Chubb invites applications for the position of Senior Financial Accountant for Paget Reinsurance Ltd (Paget Re). reporting to the Vice President, Bermuda Regional Controller.
The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day operations including accounting, regulatory compliance and administrative services for Captive, Intermediary and Segregated Account Cell Companies (the Captive Group).
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Managing all aspects of financial reporting and act as the primary contact for various departments including Treasury, Corporate Administration, Tax and Compliance. Administering accounts payable, premium & claims settlements and cash-flow processes for the Captive Group. Maintaining the general ledger and manage the monthly and quarterly general ledger close activities including, but not limited to, preparing journal entries, reconciliations, data analysis, quarterly statements and supporting working papers. Preparing annual financial statements and supplementary reports for US GAAP and statutory filings and manage the external audit process liaising with external auditors and actuaries. Preparing annual statutory filings for Captive Insurers and Segregated Account Companies. Preparing budgets, forecasts and plans for the Captive group with applicable variance analysis. Ongoing review, update and development of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Assisting in responding to new business inquiries, feasibility studies, program design and new business onboarding. Assisting, where necessary, with ad-hoc requests pertaining to other Bermuda-based Chubb entities (including P&C and Life (re)insurers).
• A professional accounting designation (ACA, ACCA, CA or CPA).
• Minimum of two years post qualification accounting experience in an insurance/reinsurance company or in captive insurance management. (Current captive industry experience preferred.)
• Experience working with a general ledger platform (PeopleSoft preferred).
• Strong organizational skills in prioritizing work and multi-tasking and strong data analytical skills (Microsoft Excel), critical thinking and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated experience in performing similar duties to those listed above.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and with external clients.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work extended hours and weekends when required.
