Senior Finance Analyst - Manufacturing Strategy & Planning

The Manufacturing Strategy and Planning Finance team works cross-functionally to determine where and what GM manufactures across North America. 

The Strategy and Planning Finance analyst is a key player in various Manufacturing studies assessing new concepts supporting our EV future and leveraging competitive data where available.  The analyst works with Manufacturing Engineering Chiefs to assess current and future vehicle cost impacts which feed the overall future business case.  The analyst regularly conducts Landed Cost studies to analyze and recommend footprint decisions (including site selections).  The analyst will gain exposure to various special studies such as:

Make vs. Buy StudiesAnalysis on volume shift in plants and potential labor impactEfficiency & Automation improvements on future productsSupport Labor during contract negotiations with UAW & Unifor (Canada)

The team primarily supports the Global Manufacturing Strategy & Planning, Global ME Program Management / Manufacturing Chiefs and works closely with Global Product Development Finance, ECA Finance, ME Finance, MFG Consolidation /FP&A team.

Role Responsibilities

Finance Lead in assessing cost impact (manufacturing cost per unit) for future product programsCollaborate cross functionally within Finance (Product Development) and Manufacturing business partnersRegularly performs strategic studies, such as footprint studies or Make vs Buy studies to recommend best GM enterprise solutionDevelops and utilizes financial modeling techniques to evaluate business opportunities using sensitivity and scenarios to quantify risks and opportunitiesDevelops and presents insights and recommendations to senior leaders

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related fieldAdvanced Excel skills, strong modeling, and financial valuation skillsStrong analytical skills / fundamental knowledge of corporate financeBusiness acumen and strategic thinking2+ years of finance experience

Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office in - Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]
