Senior Environmental Specialist
Position Overview We're looking for a Senior Environmental Specialist who is passionate about sustainability, compliance, and driving real impact. In this role, you’ll lead day-to-day environmental operations and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations—all while partnering with teams across the plant to cultivate a strong environmental culture. Responsibilities Partner with cross-functional departments to maintain and improve environmental performance Collaborate with Health & Safety to build a strong EHS culture Oversee and submit yearly environmental permits (TCEQ, SWPPP, SPCC) Coordinate ISO 14001 & 50001 certification efforts Facilitate environmental training programs for staff Lead the development and execution of environmental strategies and risk mitigation projects Conduct environmental assessments and audits Work closely with Navistar’s Corporate Environmental Team on North America-wide initiatives Ensure regulatory compliance and internal policy adherence Set and manage environmental performance goals for the facility Monitor and report key environmental metrics regularly Support Manufacturing 4.0 through continuous improvement initiatives Execute and monitor the facility’s Waste Management Plan Serve as a liaison with local government organizations Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree At least 2 years of environmental health and safety experience in manufacturing facility OR Master’s degree OR At least 4 years of environmental health and safety experience in manufacturing facility Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status) Desired Skills Degree in Environmental Science or related field preferred Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred Strong background in auditing, compliance, and environmental systems (air, wastewater, chemical & waste management) Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint) Excellent communication and organizational skills Experience with project management Positive, proactive mindset with a passion for environmental and community Benefits and Compensation We provide a competitive total rewards package which ensures job satisfaction both on and off the job.
