Our team includes Contaminant Hydrogeologists, Risk Assessment specialists, Environmental Engineers and a host of other specialties that focus on the investigation, assessment, remediation and redevelopment of contaminated sites. We are seeking a Senior Site Assessors to work with our Environmental Site Investigation and Remediation practice for our Thunder Bay office.
**Your Key Responsibilities**
Responsibilities are anticipated to include but are not limited to the following:
* Implement environmental assessment, impact assessment, and permitting processes for a variety of projects, including mining, infrastructure, industrial, and community developments.
* Manage project tasks and deliverables related to Provincial and Federal Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
* Guide and support staff through mentoring, providing training, and fostering their professional growth to enhance team performance and achieve project goal
* Support and review proposals and reports tailored to specific project requirements.
* Conduct desktop studies to support regulatory requirements for various developments.
* Develop and implement consultation programs with a focus on diverse stakeholders.
* Communicate and liaise effectively with project stakeholders, including internal teams, clients, regulatory agencies, and the public.
* Work with a group of professionals across Canada focusing on environmental impact assessments and regulatory compliance.
* Build on previous client relationships to provide opportunities and support development.
* Actively participate in key client meetings and professional/industrial organizations to promote Stantec.
* Collaborate with Key Account Managers and Sector Leaders to achieve excellent business outcomes.
* Be responsible for the dedicated staff providing Environmental Impact Assessment services, particularly within the Assessment & Permitting team.
* Provide technical and client management expertise on a variety of projects including development and implementation of work programs and management of schedules, budgets, and client deliverables relating to Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Phase II ESA, remediation programs, and hydrogeological investigations.
* Drive topline growth and business development, including identifying new opportunities within the environmental sector, fostering relationships with potential clients, and expanding Stantec’s market presence.
* As a key practitioner working on contaminated sites in Ontario, provide technical and client management expertise on a variety of projects including development and implementation of work programs and management of schedules, budgets, and client deliverables relating to Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Phase II ESA, remediation programs, and hydrogeological investigations.

* Self-motivated with excellent technical writing and public speaking skills.
* Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental program and project development, implementation, and management, with a focus on renewable energy projects.
* Experience with environmental impact assessments, including Federal IA, Class EA, TPAP, and/or Ontario Energy Board/Canada Energy Regulator processes is preferred.
* A strong aptitude for client management.
* Excellent communication, teamwork, and mentorship skills.
* A strong affinity for teamwork, training, and mentoring junior staff.
* Superior and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
* Promote a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Program.
Education and Experience:
* A university degree or post-undergraduate college diploma in Environmental Planning, Environmental Studies, Civil/Environmental/Geological/Chemical Engineering.
* Minimum of 20 years of related contaminated site management experience with particular emphasis on industrial and brownfield properties.
Preferred Qualifications and Assets:
* Training in environmental assessment programs.
* Membership in Ontario Professional Planners Institute, OAIA or ECO Canada EP designation.
* P.Geo. or P.Eng. registration is a requirement for this position.
* Consulting experience, particularly in environmental impact assessments.
* Expertise in community consultations, securing site access, and regulatory approvals, including with Indigenous communities.
* Familiarity with project financing.
* Experience in mentoring rising talent.
* Active participation in strategic planning and execution, including pre-positioning for key projects and developing RFP responses.
* Project management experience, maintaining billable work and ensuring successful project deliveries.
Work Environment:
* Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
* Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
