The Ford Credit Tech team in India is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager who is skilled in software engineering practices. The software engineering manager will lead a team of software engineers based out of our Chennai offices and engage with our vendor partners, to technically lead and deliver products to enrich digital experience of our commercial customers.
The software engineering manager will collaborate directly and continuously with Software Engineers, Product Managers, Designers, Product Owners and Product Teams in US and Europe regions to build, validate, and release software products early and often in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business or similar discipline. 10+ years of experience in a Software Engineering role. Strong hands-on knowledge of Cloud platform (GCP preferred), Java, JavaScript, React, SpringBoot, etc. Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL and MongoDB Strong knowledge of Software Craftsmanship practices including TDD, Clean Code, Refactoring, etc. Experience with DevOps/Security tools like Jenkins, 42Crunch, Sonarqube, CheckMarx, FOSSA etc. Knowledge of working with Agile software methodologies i.e., Scrum, eXtreme Programming, SAFe etc. Proven experience of working with external vendor partners to ensure successful delivery Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to coach and teach others. Strong Problem Solver mindset Ability to work collaborativelywith geographically spread out teams and navigate complex decision making. Ability to collaborate well with product manager, designers, and business partnersAdditional Qualifications:
Actively managing the long-term delivery roadmap of the software product. Understanding business and user priorities, and technical feasibility in order to prioritize the product backlog and manage risks. Gathering user and stakeholder feedback to drive improvements and inform the product roadmap. Actively managing features and dependencies in and across product releases. Communicating openly and frequently with the team by being responsive to in-person or in messaging tool prompts. Identifying risks, and implementing mitigation and contingency plans, focused on early mitigation or elimination of risks. Assessing the overall health of the product and prompting key decisions to move it forward. Work with the Product Manager to develop products used by Ford Credit commercial customers Collaborate with vendor partners to ensure successful delivery and support of critical foundational products Design and develop production quality code to create products that customers want. Work independently and understand the requirements and conceptualize the solution for the product. Take complete end to end ownership to design, develop that includes utilities and cloud deployment. Apply advanced concepts, theories, and principles to create multi-disciplinary innovations and solutions for the most complex or risky business situations. Actively seek to improve the engineering delivery pipeline reducing cycle time and increasing quality and security posture. Work closely with and monitor external partners engaged in working on these products Work with other internal product teams in order to integrate products into various platforms across Account Manager, Core Modernization and Mobile apps, etc. Works in an XP programming environment which follows pair programming and test-driven development using proven Lean/Agile methods. Practice blue/green deployment strategy to keep applications up and running 24*7 with 99.99% availability A hands-on leader with good experience in technologies mentioned in the selection criteria section
