Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Engineer – Fleet Structures works within a team of engineers and leadership to provide fleetwide structural engineering support to United Airlines growing fleet of aircraft. Fleet Structures Engineers collaborate with many internal departments to establish, maintain, and manage all aspects of the overall structural health, reliability, and regulatory compliance of the assigned fleet. Fleet Structures Engineers organize and manage the priorities for multiple assigned responsibilities and accomplish the work processes to meet all the deliverables for aircraft fleetwide structural projects

Studies, analyzes, and seeks solutions to fleetwide structural problems related to the design, operation, maintenance, performance, modification, or repair of aircraft, and their componentsUses a structured, logical, and analytical approach in problem solvingDefines maintenance program, configuration, and serviceability criteria ensuring safe and compliant operationsAnalyzes and implements regulatory requirements for assigned aircraft fleetEvaluates the effects of modifications or new equipment on reliability and performanceEvaluates the benefits of the cost impact of a fleet decision to ensure an optimum balance of cost, asset utilization, quality, and reliabilityAuthors, designs, tests, and manages projects to provide safe, regulatory compliant, cost efficient and reliable aircraft on time to the airline operationProvide on-site technical support for line and base operations for engineering projects Communicates with OEMs regulations, and internal customer on technical issues, work scope recommendations, and failure investigationsInterfaces with internal and external organizations regarding specific aircraft and component issuesThis position leads and develops potentially complex solutions and implementation plans, project justification, cost/benefit analysis, management of project implementation, technical support, and obtaining FAA approvals as requiredCoordinate work with other operational groups to ensure airworthiness, safety, regulatory compliance, operational reliability, and operational efficiencyOrganize and manage the priorities for assigned responsibilities and accomplish the work processes to meet all the deliverables for aircraft fleet structural projects or maintenance program changes/technical specification revisions

Bachelors degree or related experience in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace) or technical fieldSenior Engineer I: 5-8 yearsSenior Engineer II: 8 years Ability to interpret complex and technical Engineering and OEM documentsHighly detailed level project development and management for regulatory compliance modifications, and overall ownership of specific systemsEffective communication skillsSuccessful candidate will have working knowledge of airline or OEM operationsKnowledge of Code of Regulations (CFRs), airworthiness design and substantiation criteria, aircraft and equipment design and operational characteristicsMust be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorshipSuccessful completion of interview required to meet job qualificationReliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Experience working with specific ATA Airline Structures Chapters (ATA: 50-57, 71 and 78)Airline or industry experience with general ATA chapters that could encompass aircraft systems, structures, powerplant and avionics disciplinesExperience with Boeing or Airbus commercial aircraft typesExperience with Corrosion Prevention and Control Programs (CPCP)Knowledge of aircraft structural design, materials, repair concepts and approval requirementsExperience with fleetwide implementation of Supplemental Type Certificates (STC)Knowledge of SCEPTRE and PalantirFAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
