MAU is hiring a Sr. Engineer R&D for our client in Baltimore, MD. As a Sr. Engineer R&D, you will lead pilot-scale activities, support manufacturing scale-up, and oversee the safe operation of the R&D lab and equipment. This is a direct-hire opportunity.
Benefits Package 401(k) Medical, dental, and life insurance Paid vacation Required Education and Experience M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent discipline) 10+ years of experience in a hydrometallurgical, chemical manufacturing, or processing environment Preferred Education and Experience Ability to read or converse in Spanish and/or Chinese General Requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Strong written and verbal communication skills in English Self-directed with the ability to make independent decisions Ability to travel to global locations as needed Essential Functions Maintain Baltimore R&D facilities and ensure all equipment is operational Source and install new equipment with R&D Manager approval Coordinate with Maintenance and contractors for lab upkeep and construction Train R&D staff in safety procedures and serve as Laboratory Supervisor per Chemical Hygiene Plan Design and execute approved R&D projects focused on new product processes Oversee pilot-scale operations and prepare process flow diagrams and mass-balance calculations Support manufacturing scale-up at global production sites Maintain detailed project records and deliver weekly updates and final reports Present findings to R&D, operations, sales, and business teams Assist Process Engineering and Quality with improvements and problem resolution Support Sales and Quality teams with customer inquiries and technical issues Suggest R&D project ideas for new products or process improvements Conduct and summarize technical literature reviews Follow all safety rules and participate in safety initiatives Working Conditions Laboratory and pilot-scale R&D environment with potential for global travel Physical Demands Standard physical requirements for laboratory and pilot plant work
