**Roles**
+ Energy Modeling Expert: Specializes in creating detailed energy models for buildings to analyze energy performance, optimize design, and comply with sustainability standards.
+ Sustainability Consultant: Works closely with architects, engineers, and project stakeholders to achieve energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable building designs.
+ Simulation Specialist: Uses advanced simulation tools to predict energy consumption, carbon emissions, and other building performance metrics.
+ Compliance Advisor: Ensures that designs meet relevant energy codes, standards, and certifications, such as LEED and ASHRAE.
+ **Energy Model Development**
+ Create detailed energy models using IES-VE software.
+ Input architectural, mechanical, and electrical system details into the software for accurate modeling.
+ Analyze building orientation, envelope materials, HVAC systems, and occupancy patterns.
+ **Sustainability Analysis**
+ Perform thermal simulations, daylighting studies, natural ventilation analysis, and renewable energy assessments.
+ Assess building designs for energy efficiency, carbon emissions, and occupant comfort.
+ Recommend MEP strategies and/or alternative industry systems for improving energy performance.
+ **Collaboration and Coordination**
+ Work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to incorporate energy-efficient solutions.
+ Provide input on design changes to optimize building performance.
+ **Compliance and Certification**
+ Ensure energy models meet local energy codes (e.g., ASHRAE 90.1, Title 24).
+ Support certification processes such as LEED, WELL, or Green Star by providing necessary energy simulation results and documentation.
+ Prepare reports and documentation required for regulatory compliance.
+ **Data Analysis and Reporting**
+ Interpret simulation results to provide actionable insights.
+ Prepare detailed energy analysis reports, charts, and presentations for stakeholders.
+ Offer recommendations for cost-effective and energy-efficient design solutions.
+ **Software Utilization**
+ Use IES-VE and related modules such as ApacheSim, Radiance, and SunCast to conduct detailed analyses.
+ Stay updated on advancements in IES software tools and methodologies.
+ **Quality Assurance**
+ Perform QA/QC checks on energy models to ensure accuracy and reliability of simulations.
+ Validate input data and verify consistency with project specifications.
+ **Research and Development**
+ Stay updated on the latest energy modeling techniques, software tools, and industry trends.
+ Contribute to the development of innovative energy-efficient building solutions.
+ Technical Proficiency: Expertise in IES-VE and other simulation tools (e.g., EnergyPlus, eQuest).
+ Knowledge of Building Physics: Understanding of thermal performance, HVAC systems, and energy systems.
+ Attention to Detail: Accurate data entry and simulation results interpretation.
+ Analytical Thinking: Ability to evaluate complex scenarios and optimize building designs.
+ Communication: Presenting findings effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
