Senior Engineer - Hydraulics

We are seeking a highly experienced technically proficient personnel member to join our Powertrain Engineering team. The ideal candidate with a strong foundation in valve body assembly and component designs for the automatic transmissions will bring deep expertise to our Hydraulics team. The person will possess the knowledge of developing hydraulic concept designs that includes valve, spring, orifice sizing calculation with the incorporation of the industry best practices. The person has in-depth understanding of valve body casting and machining, design for manufacture and working level knowledge of the proportional, on-off and PWM solenoids and hydraulic control units.

This position will lead the development of valve body from concept through launch, ensuring robust, defect-free, and production-ready designs that meet hydraulics, lubrication and shift quality requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design and development of valve body components such as valve body castings, separator plate, valves, springs, bushings, seals & solenoids. Collaborate with the cross functional teams develop clean-sheet designs to and optimize existing components for performance, manufacturability, and cost. Review engineering drawings towards conformance with the product inspection sheets. Review engineering stacks. Lead root cause investigations for valve body related issues such as contamination, dimensional variation, line pressure oscillations, fault codes through engineering tools such as 8D, fishbone, 5L3Y. Lead valve body trim data analysis from the test stands to verify and develop limits. Document and share best practices for Hydraulics and lubrication system components as part of internal technical standards and design guides. Lead technical infrastructure for key components, documentation, specifications, requirements definitions and drawing signoffs for key supplied components Lead and support warranty and quality related topics. Promote intellectual property identification and development Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across product and manufacturing teams.

Basic Qualifications: 

A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related degree field A minimum of 8 years of industry experience in Automotive powertrain engineering Proven success in launching Hydraulics components into mass production, with clear contributions from concept to production validation Effective communicator with ability to work across engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supplier teams Knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA,DVP&R. Familiarity with casting simulation tools such as MAGMASOFT or ProCAST Familiarity with finite element analysis, reliability analysis

Preferred Qualifications: 

Master of Science Degree in Engineering Working level experience with actuators, motor controls, communication protocols, sensors, software and functional safety.   Working experience with PCBs for actuators and pumps  Greenbelt or Blackbelt DFSS verification
