Senior Engineer Human Factor - RTS ET

Are you passionate about optimizing human performance and safety in complex systems? We’re seeking a Senior Human Factors Engineer to lead the implementation and assurance of human factor engineering across our assigned assets. In this pivotal role, you’ll ensure that robust human factor assurance systems are in place, driving business objectives while maintaining compliance with regulatory and customer standards.

 

You’ll be responsible for conducting human factor activities that enhance operational effectiveness, safety, and user experience. Your expertise will help shape systems and processes that align with best practices in human factors, ensuring our operations are not only efficient but also human-centric.

 

Key responsibilities:

Lead human factors assurance activities across the asset lifecycle, ensuring compliance with standards and contract requirements. Collaborate with internal teams (Safety Assurance, RAMS, Design, Testing, Through Life Support) and external stakeholders (clients, workshop participants). Conduct and review complex human factors assessments, integrating findings into design and operational strategies. Develop and manage key documentation including Human Factor Integration Plans, Analysis Reports, and Test Plans. Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and proactive safety culture. Support technical assurance, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

 

About you:

Degree in Engineering or relevant equivalent  Postgraduate qualifications in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology, or related fields is highly regarded  Strong knowledge of Human Factor standards (AS7470, ISO18529, ISO26800, etc.) and ergonomic assessment tools (RULA, REBA). Expertise in Human Machine Interface design, human reliability techniques (HEART, THERP, NARA), and cognitive/physical workload analysis. Proven ability to lead workshops, manage stakeholders, and deliver high-quality technical documentation. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with leadership in human factors guidance. Expertise in rolling stock design, verification, and operations advantageous
