Job Description

Caterpillar’s Integrated Components & Solutions Division is currently seeking a Control System Senior Engineer for the Aftertreatment Team in the Large Core Engine Electrical Systems group. As the Aftertreatment System Engineer, you will be required to solve complex, global technical challenges focusing on large engine aftertreatment systems. You will be responsible for aftertreatment electrical systems and software used in MaK, C280, C175, 3500, C32 & C27 applications. Responsibilities include following the NPI development process to ensure all swim lanes of product development are followed including requirements capture, change management, system development & integration, validation, and production readiness. 

What You Will Do:

Senior System Engineer for complex aftertreatment system projects spanning across multiple large engine platforms that will utilize air assist or airless SCR aftertreatment technology. In this system role you will be responsible for laying out the electrical system design (both electrical hardware & software) and following through with implementation through the NPI Process.Interface with the aftertreatment platform team in Lafayette/Mossville as well as the Mechatronics team to capture system needs/requirements.Complete projects on time and at cost.Guide and mentor team members to help them reach their potential and expand their expertise.Operate with a Built in Quality (BIQ) mindset to create a collaborative environment that promotes best engineering practices, continuous process improvement, and accountability.

Education Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum

What You Will Have:

Embedded Systems

Demonstrates hands-on experience with embedded software and electronic hardware, enabling immediate contributions to test cell support and hardware testing from day one.

Problem Solving

Apply diverse problem-solving techniques to troubleshoot test cell engines and coordinate across multiple teams, supporting system integration and regulatory adaptation.

Requirements Analysis

Actively contributes to requirements discussions by eliciting and documenting functional needs, especially around Diesel Exhaust Fluid Quality Sensors and aftertreatment strategies.

Communicating Complex Concepts

Effectively translates technical details into clear, actionable insights for cross-functional teams, ensuring smooth coordination across Caterpillar Technology and external groups.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

Previous Aftertreatment system experience.Excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments.  Requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills. Tools experience will help: CANape, CANalyzer, MATLAB, ForcastMust have the ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the workgroup, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.Previous NPI experience focused on product development.Good communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.Strong analytical skills.

Additional Information:

The location for this position is Mossville, IL.Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.This position may require 10% travel.Visa sponsorship is available for this position.      

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
