Job Summary You will provide technical support for complex program activities by developing and applying advanced engineering theories, methods and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex technical problems. You will also provide technical direction to and coordinate the efforts of engineers and technical support staff in the assigned programs by performing the following duties: Impact of the Role General ProfileRequires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines Solves complex problems Works independently, receives minimal guidanceMay lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experienceConsistent exercise of discretion & judgment Essential Functions Applies standard engineering techniques to design, analyze, test, maintain, repair, or improve products, components, or assemblies. Analyzes, develops and evaluates systems. Improves and maintains current systems or creates brand new projects. Designs and drafts blueprints, visits systems in the field and manages projects. Applies engineering techniques and analyses within the scope of the assignment. Required Qualifications Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experienceDiscipline/Major: Engineering degree requiredCritical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Preferred Qualifications Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Technology or Chemical EngineeringKnowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Critical thinking skills. Problem solving skills. Mathematic skills. Computer skills. Technical expertise.Experience in energetic materials field. Understanding of the design and composition of most existing products and engineering/business processes and principles. Physical Requirements Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery. _____________________________ The above statements describe the general nature and level of work only.
