Responsibilities:Senior Engineer needed by Celanese Corporation in Narrows, VA to Manage a team of engineers and technicians within the Technology & Innovation (T&I) department to work on product and process development of cellulose acetate technology. Manage a team of engineers and technicians to effectively execute T&I projects related to improve cellulose acetate tow filter technology in terms of quality, productivity, sustainability and safety. Coach and develop talents within the team. Manage technical projects from project conception to completion through cross-functional and cross-regional collaboration. Apply lean six sigma statistical methodology to lead continuous process improvement projects specific to cellulose acetylation processes and continuous flow acetate extrusion processes. Identify and initiate process or quality improvement or cost reduction projects based on deep understand of process, product quality, understanding of business, as well as data analysis capabilities. Identify and quantify value proposal using Lean six sigma methodology, develop proof of concept and project financial feasibility, establishing timelines and milestones, leveraging cross-functional resources. Maintain stewardship over key ingredient sourcing and quality. Maintain a thorough understanding and knowledge of Celanese cellulose acetate business, customer quality requirements, and processes such as extrusion technology, polymer chemistry, fiber physical science, analytical apparatus, filtration, and distillation technology. Utilize big data analytics and advanced statistical software. Design, develop, and test chemical processes to optimize an existing process. Coordinate cross-functional and cross-regional projects. Utilize acetylation and fiber extrusion. Perform project management and quality management.
Qualifications:Requires a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree, in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering and 3 years of experience in the job offered or 3 years of experience in a related occupation utilizing big data analytics and advanced statistical software; designing, developing, and testing chemical processes to optimize an existing process; coordinating cross-functional and cross-regional projects; utilizing acetylation and fiber extrusion; performing project management and quality management. Requires Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
