As a Senior Engineer – Design for Excellence (DFX), you will develop engineering/product concepts that are innovative, high-quality, cost-appropriate, and satisfy all stakeholder's (customer, manufacturing, material, etc.) needs and requirements throughout the full Product Realization value stream.
Key Job Accountabilities:
Perform Design for Excellence (DFX) analysis on PCB design and assemblies to determine ways to improve the design with the goal of improving quality/cost (process and material), testability access and long term reliability.
Collaborate with internal/external design team and manufacturing team in PCB DFX analysis and reviews.
Serve as a go to person within their discipline of expertise to provide technical guidance, control scope, schedule, budget and ensure overall technical success on projects.
Participate in the project management and dispatching of DFX requests to ensure that they are completed in a timely manner taking into account any manufacturing need dates.
Host meetings with customers to review the results of DFX analysis. Provide in-depth commentary and demonstrate DFX knowledge and capabilities.
Develop engineering/product concepts that are innovative, high-quality, cost-appropriate, and satisfy all stakeholders (customer, manufacturing, material, agency, etc.) needs and requirements through an established area of technical specialty and mentorship of others on the global discipline team.
Demonstrate the ability to work independently in multiple phases for the Product Realization Process, without direction from mentors or functional management.
Additional Accountabilities:
Support the Lean culture and effectively utilizes Lean Sigma concepts and tools to identify and eliminate waste while improving processes.
Support proposal development through the identification of project tasks, durations, interdependencies, risks, and assumptions.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives which include cross functional team involvement.
Lead the evaluation and improvement of processes, tools, and methodologies using DMAIC concepts and tools to ensure best practices are used throughout the functional group and the design center.
Education/Experience Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required; a Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics/Physics/Chemical Engineering or higher is preferred.
Five (5) years of related experience is required.
Experience in using Valor software or equivalent is preferred.
Knowledgeable on DFX issues related to PCB design, fabrication, assembly and test.
Experience and knowledge in PCB fabrication, alternate board materials, and manufacturing/assembly processes is preferred.
Ability to work effectively with customers, Design Engineers, PCB fabrication personnel, Plexus manufacturing and test engineering personnel to ensure a producible product.
Able to work independently and possess excellent communication skills.
Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
