**Responsibilities:**
+ An engineering professional who applies scientific knowledge, engineering knowledge, mathematics, and ingenuity to complete assignments related to a specific technical field or discipline.
+ Works under general supervision who reviews results for overall accuracy, completeness, and soundness of technical judgment.
+ Identifies and quantifies technical risks and their consequences relative to the success of part of a project; recommends appropriate action, e.g. reports calculations and recommendations in terms concrete enough for management to make an informed decision.
+ Decisions or recommendations would typically achieve department/project objectives.
+ Drives functional performance that ensures the highest standard in quality, customer service, and regulatory compliance are met.
Technical/Design
+ Anticipates future directions. Benchmarks internally and externally. Recognizes changes in the environment and present resources as indicators of future problems and opportunities; prepares for such eventualities, e.g. initiates plan to acquire new engineering skills required by changes in technology.
+ Independently executes the design of products/processes/equipment/systems/facilities by applying standard engineering theories, concepts, and techniques within the discipline.
+ Independently investigates, conducts tests or experiments, gathers data, and performs preliminary analysis.
+ Reports findings. Prepares and communicates recommendations and respective action plans.
Project Management
+ Plans and conducts small- to medium-size assigned projects within engineering specialty requiring conventional types of plans, investigations, and/or equipment.
+ Coordinates and monitors activities/projects. Reviews plans and monitors status of implementation for those assigned to project; makes judgments regarding quality of implementation within discipline; employs contingency plans to recover from schedule slippage and financial overruns when appropriate, e.g. tracks actual - Facilitates the definition of a project scope with clients.
+ Estimates and coordinates resources needed (materials, budget, time and people) to accomplish assigned individual tasks, e.g. coordinates work with technicians and associate engineers; prepares contingency plans and budget for assignments.
+ Participates in economic analysis and feasibility studies related to project alternatives. Jointly responsible for achieving the project's financial targets in support of business objectives.
Problem Solving/Innovation
+ Creates/modified designs for intermediate problems. Designs/modifies more complex components/processes; writes detailed design specifications, e.g. creates a new production flow diagram; modifies an existing design to improve a construction process.
+ Predicts patterns/trends. Grasps complexities and sees relationships among data; determines consequences and alternatives; makes recommendations, e.g. develops a process improvement for manufacturing; analyzes problems from multiple perspectives.
+ Improves methods/designs/processes. Recognizes and implements good ideas/innovations/costs reductions; consistently generates/adopts original solutions to problems and reduces them to practices, e.g. implements better methods to reduce component costs; creatively applies others' design ideas.
Organizational Interface
+ Mentors others by sharing technical expertise and providing feedback and guidance.
+ Interfaces primarily with internal company contacts. Communicates infrequently with inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.
+ Prepares written communication. Conveys information effectively through formal and informal documents with team members, designers, technicians, and other technical personnel, both internal and external, using appropriate communications protocols, e.g. develops proposals, conducts reviews; provides audience targeted content; prepares project summaries and design documentation. Obtains approval to proceed with proposed action plans.
+ Establishes networks. Follows through on project goals; contributes willingly and incorporates the ideas of others; shares resources, knowledge, and accountability to benefit the objectives of business, e.g. participates in team meetings; serves as a functional expert in design reviews.
+ Buildings relationships. Initiates and cultivates open, honest relationships with colleagues, customers, contractors, and vendors by establishing rapport, developing an understanding of others' needs, promoting common goals, and following through on commitments, e.g. offers assistance; interacts effectively with stakeholders at appropriate levels of the organization.
+ Resolves underlying problems. Identifies full range of customer/client needs and proposes solutions to address them; makes alterations in products or services to better meet (recognized or unrecognized) customer need, e.g. partners with an outside vendor to provide a better deliverable.
Compliance
+ Complies with all regulations and standards for quality, Environmental, Health, Safety, and Energy (EHS&E) Global Policies, Engineering Standards, and other governance areas as applicable.
+ Ensures quality and effectiveness of assigned tasks.
+ Has awareness of the potential consequences (defects and failure modes) of design changes to established processes.
+ Identifies areas of risk with respect to compliance.
Additional responsibilities may include
+ Coordinates with technical support personnel to conduct prototype or experimental runs of products or processes.
+ Works with external manufacturers (EMs) to provide continuity of supply, failure investigations, and sustaining support.
+ Performs tasks such as supplier tooling validations, NCR/CAPAs, and technical documentation
+ Develops, writes, and executes validation protocols and reports.
+ Resolves problems, such as production process deviations, vendor deviations from specification, urgent out of-stock replacements, and crisis situations requiring fast, astute decisions with rapid implementation by utilizing technical training and experience.
+ Provides training on systems.
**Qualifications:**
+ A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and a minimum of five years of significant engineering and/or operational experience is required.
+ Electro-Mechanical, Plastics or Biomedical Engineering background highly preferred.
+ Medical device experience (21 CFR Part 820, ISO13485) highly preferred.
+ Experience in working with EM’s highly preferred.
+ Experience in electro-mechanical assembly, supplier component validations and processing technical documents (IQ/OQ/PQ)
+ This position is in Irvine, CA and may require between 20%-40% travel as needed both locally and/or internationally.

**The anticipated base pay range for this position is :**
$91,000 to $147,200
Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
