Job Description:

Focus on continuous improvement/maintenance of released products within the commercial on-highway portfolio. Responsible for improving and developing new transmission component and sub-system designs using sound engineering principles, GD&T, and tolerance stacks. Perform engineering calculations related to component loading and basic stress and fatigue life calculations. Design new part concepts in CAD, review FEA results and make design judgments based on those results. Direct and collaborate with specialized CAD designers to develop new product concepts, ensure accurate and timely completion of new designs and modifications to components and subsystems. Determine appropriate DVP&R elements to validate the product and execute to completion by initiating test requests, supporting data review and integration, and thoroughly reviewing test reports. Execute DFMEA and align product designs to best practices. Perform failure analysis of hardware in collaboration with the internal metallurgical lab. Develop a solid understanding of the manufacturing and assembly impacts to design. Work with suppliers, purchasing, and supplier quality engineers to support cost reduction, sourcing decisions, and design changes.

Job Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

2. 5 years of progressive experience as Transmission Engineer.

3. Other experience and skills must include:

Design and development of 3D prototype parts, create automatic transmission components manufacturing drawings, reverse engineering, design modification, modelling, assembly, and detailing for various components.

Updating and verifying design by dimensional variation analysis / tolerance stacks.

Involved in engineering changes and release process of CAD models and documents.

Generated cost saving and reduction ideas.

Validating design based on test request (Design Validation Plan Readiness) and periodic review with process partner.

NX (Unigraphics), Tolerance stack ups, Teamcenter, and Engineering drawing release process.

4. Must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
