Senior Electrical and Control Engineer – Designer of Control Logic and Instrumentation Systems in Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) Plant

Afra Innovation and Technology Co., in collaboration with the Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST), is seeking to recruit a skilled electrical and control engineer specializing in signal processing, industrial automation, and advanced control system design to support the development of control and instrumentation subsystems in Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants.

Note: In this phase of collaboration, the role and associated responsibilities will be structured as a short-term, part-time project assignment. As the design phase of the project progresses toward implementation, the collaboration may evolve into a full-time engagement or continue part-time, subject to mutual agreement and project conditions.

Responsibilities:

Collect technical documentation, conduct engineering analysis, and prepare comprehensive reports.Perform comparative studies of international CSP plants, focusing on design bottlenecks and optimization strategies for control logic and instrumentation systems.Define design parameters and analyze the performance of control and instrumentation systems in solar thermal power plants (CSP).Develop expertise in the design and optimization of relevant subsystems, including:Solar reflector (heliostat) tracking systems, aligned with the behavioral profile of the power generation section.Mirror actuator control and fault detection systems, with control strategies based on PID or intelligent methods.Control and instrumentation systems for mechanical power plant equipment, including central receiver units, thermal energy transfer and storage systems, heat exchangers, and power block components such as turbine, generator, condenser, and grid interconnection systems.Full-plant DCS (Distributed Control System) and design of industrial controllers for real-time operational monitoring.Prepare complete technical documentation and engineering knowledge packages for entering the basic and detailed design phases.Program and simulate systems using specialized engineering software.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Engineering.Proficiency in essential software tools, including MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW, EPlan, Conval, and others.Deep understanding of signal processing, industrial automation, PID control, PLC and DCS systems, and principles of industrial AI implementation.Practical experience with power plant turbines and generators, heat exchangers, and instrumentation for high-temperature systems.Intermediate to advanced proficiency in English (knowledge of Chinese is considered a plus).Strong learning capability, adaptability, and a problem-solving mindset for multi-disciplinary engineering projects with tight schedules.Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve critical technical challenges during operational phases.Passion for personal growth in the field of renewable power plant analysis, with a focus on solar thermal energy.
