Senior EH&S Specialist

We are seeking a Senior EH&S Specialist to join our team. Applies strong understanding of EH&S processes, procedures, systems, and resources to drive projects and tasks to completion and ensure health and safety compliance standards are met. Adopts and implements business and process improvements within EH&S. Works on moderately complex EH&S problems and considers relative value of several alternative solutions to potential issues before confirming a final decision as to the path forward. Exercises professional judgment within defined practices of industrial hygiene and safety selection methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

As a Senior EH&S Specialist, a typical day may include the following:

Preforms EH&S-based tasks employing specialized domain knowledge and developed, focused business expertise

Recognizes training opportunities and develops EH&S training content for online, on the job training, and classroom training sessions for programs such as LOTO, Hot Work, electrical safety, powered industrial lift truck, confined space, etc. Performs trainings as necessary

Champions construction and operations safety and is responsible for accident rate remediation; completes accident reports, conducts accident investigations, investigates trends, and adjusts department responses accordingly

Develops and leads programs, initiatives, and activities for the EH&S department with focus within operations and constructions

Collaborates with and assists in driving communication between key collaborators and with other members of the EH&S team

Performs EH&S audits of specialty labs, Facilities workshops, construction areas, support areas, and offices

Provides emergency response support during medical emergencies, evacuations, hazardous material spills, etc. and available 24/7

Assists with the implementation and maintenance of our contractor safety due-diligence management system

Attend and occasionally lead project meetings and tool box talks to discuss activities that impact safety and develop mitigation solutions. Review Methods of Procedures (MOPs) as necessary

Provides support to a specific aspect of the business such as Operations, Engineering, Project Management, and Property Management

May assume responsibility for full or partial program compliance, such as DOT, construction safety, electrical safety, powered industrial lift trucks, asbestos abatement/O&M plans

Frequently interacts with end users and various management levels including senior management. Ability to prepare and conduct presentations of technical EHS information concerning specific projects

This role may be for you if:

Author clear and concise safety related communications, including e-mails, letters, job aids, and policies and procedures as required

To be considered for this role, you must have a BS Degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience. Advanced degree and/or certifications (Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, Associate Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager and/or Medical Emergency Technician, OSHA 510/511) are a plus. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Proficient in computer skills, such as Microsoft Suite. Ability to learn specialized software applications and specialized safety and industrial hygiene equipment. Fluency in Spanish is a plus. Ability to develop and conduct EHS training sessions.

Salary Range (annually)

$82,600.00 - $134,800.00
