Senior Educator and Accreditation Manager
Overview CDM provides educational and technical assistance to healthcare entities, communities, first responders, schools, public health agencies, and a broad array of preparedness, response, and mitigation activities across New York State and leverages the resources and support of the Touro University System. The Center for Disaster Medicine (CDM) is a New York State Center of Excellence (COE) located within New York Medical College. CDM is seeking a Senior Educator and Accreditation Manager to complement the various activities of CDM including, and not limited to, development and delivery of course content including courses for all first responders including hospital based, ambulatory services, first responders, policing, and school educators and professionals, continuing education accreditation (AHA, ARC, NAEMT, etc…), and NYS EMS Certification Course delivery and accreditation, The Educator is expected to work closely with CDM subject matter experts and researchers in the development, evaluation and validation of programs. The Educator is expected to have proficiency in educational program development, delivery and evaluation, EMS operations, education and regulation, rescue task force operations, resuscitation and EMS continuing education programs for healthcare providers including EMS, accreditation of educational programs, and research design and conduct. The incumbent’s expertise will be requested both for instructional activities (80%) and other CDM activities (20%). This position reports to the Director and Deputy Director of CDM. Up to 25% of travel is expected within the State of New York and occasional out-of-state travel. The incumbent will join a team of diverse individuals serving college students, lay public, physicians, public health faculty, and government affairs representatives. All candidates will present a 30-minute lesson segment of their choice, pertinent to CDM objectives, to an audience inclusive of faculty and students and submit the corresponding lesson plan, visual aids, and/or other instructional materials. Responsibilities + Develop and evaluate educational initiatives for CDM clients including all aspects of course planning, lesson planning, delivery and evaluation + Oversee continuing education accreditation including but not limited to CAPCE, AHA, ARC, NDLS and NAEMT. + Serve as NYS EMS Course Sponsor’s Administrator + Provide constructive and written feedback as part of an educational team + Respond and provide technical expertise to various educational and technical assistance requests for proposals in diverse settings. + Delivery of educational programs + Conduct research including educational research and support student research projects + Collaborate with the CDM Administrator to schedule, track, and report on courses. + Oversee CDM educational and medical equipment inventory, disposable supply process and preventative maintenance schedule + Run technical aspects of simulation or provide direction for the same during CDM activities + Provide direction to contracted program staff for educational activities + Project management skills to bring an educational concept through to execution + Design, conduct and report on evaluation of instructional programs including student, end user and subject matter expert assessments + Collaborate with the Director, Deputy Director, and the NYMC community and their partners to develop and execute novel programming + Other duties as assigned Qualifications Education requirement: Baccalaureate degree, master’s degree preferred. Licenses or certifications: + Certificate/License as a paramedic, RN or other equivalent healthcare professional. + Degree/Certificate/Licensure/Experience indicates that the candidate has completed a course of instruction and/or has knowledge in pedagogy to include lesson planning, student coaching and evaluation. + Certification in EMS or resuscitation continuing education programs + NYS DOH EMS CIC certification preferred Prior experience: + Actively employed in a role which included activities of a paramedic, or healthcare professional involving direct patient care, within the previous 10 years. + 5-10 years of instructional experience (including lesson planning, course design, conduct, and evaluation). + 1-3 years’ experience in research + 3-5 years of experience in evaluation and planning of multi hazard emergency preparedness initiatives and program assessment including school, out of hospital, ambulatory, and hospital settings preferred. Preferred qualifications: + Hazardous Materials training including instructor qualifications for - including and not limited to; live agent training, instructor – awareness level, and training to include technical emergency response. + Hospital emergency response and emergency operations center management. + HICS operations basic and train-the-trainer certification. + Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems such as Canvas. + Working knowledge of Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan, Strategic National Stockpile Plan, Public Health Asset Distribution Plan, and Emergency Support Function (ESF) 7 Annex. + Experience with American Heart Association, American Red Cross, National Association of EMTs educational programs. Minimum Salary USD $80,000.00/Yr. Maximum Salary USD $100,000.00/Yr.
