Senior Editorial Manager

About the Role

Overall responsibility for the sourcing, production, development and updating of content for the Japan legal market.Responsible for overall team direction, performance, and work assignmentsAttracts, identifies, and grows talent within the teamCoordinates team training, learning and developmentLeads and enables editorial relationships with authors, professional bodies, and content partners, including government and official agenciesCoordinates the commissioning and updating of content, and author succession planningEnsure adherence to production, cost schedules and best practiceWorks closely with managers and editorial staff to drive and monitor delivery against the business plan, recommending regular changes and improvementsImplements cost-saving initiatives and standardize editorial processes where possibleManages vendor and outsourced workflows effectivelyRepresents Editorial in developing content for new products and enhancements of existing productsSupports planning and business cases to drive content development, leveraging emerging technologiesMaintains key customer relationships to support current and future content needs.

About You

Over 10 years of experience in managing people and diverse teams, with a proven track record of leadership and team developmentLegal graduate with post-graduate experience in the Japanese legal professionBilingual, with fluency and proficiency in written and spoken Japanese and EnglishExperience in managing customer and stakeholder relationships, and projects, with a focus on delivering high-quality results and building strong partnershipsExperience with vendors for resource optimization and cost management, with a focus on delivering value and efficiencyStrong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, customers, and stakeholdersProven ability to operationalize plans for growth, with a strong understanding of commercial and business principles Strong analytical skills, with commercial acumen and the ability to drive business outcomesStrong interest in emerging technologies, such as AI, and their application to content and research
