As an Individual Disability Senior Underwriter, you're responsible for exercising your discretion and using professional judgment in decision making of individual disability cases up to $15,000/monthly indemnity for personal coverage and up to $50,000 of Overhead Expense. You will use your training and experience to determine the insurability as well as premium classification of applications. As a Senior Underwriter, you are accountable for managing assigned work, maintaining excellent agency relationships, and ensuring customer satisfaction at the highest level. You are part of a dynamic team that works with adjacent departments for the benefit of the facilitation of the entire underwriting and administrative process. Minimum of 4+ years' experience in individual disability underwritingCollege degree preferred or industry related education (i.e., LOMA, ALU, CLU) or related professional experienceKnowledge of individual disability insurance products/processesWorking medical knowledge (i.e., Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Medical Conditions)Working financial knowledge (i.e., Personal and Business Tax Returns, Profit & Loss Statements)Strong proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word/Excel as well as general computer proficiencyExcellent analytical skills; written and oral communication skills and negotiation skillsExceptional decision-making skills and organizational and time management skillsLOCATION and TRAVEL
This is a remote position (mobile) with occasional travel to a Guardian office annually or as determined by your people leader.
Salary Range:
$67,450.00 - $110,815.00The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
