The Sr. Director of Scientific Partnerships plays a critical role in shaping and scaling Danaher Diagnostics’ innovation strategy through high-impact scientific collaborations. This leader will be responsible for scouting, establishing, and managing strategic partnerships with academia, healthcare systems, and the pharmaceutical industry to accelerate our R&D pipeline and support franchise and OpCo objectives.

You will develop a cohesive partnership strategy, serve as a senior interface with external collaborators, and work cross-functionally to ensure partnerships are aligned with our disease leadership priorities and product innovation goals.

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Scientific Partnership Strategy: Develop and lead a scalable, cross-platform strategy for external scientific partnerships that aligns with franchise goals and accelerates innovation across the diagnostics portfolio.

Partnership Scouting and Development: Identify, initiate, and negotiate collaborations with academic institutions, health systems, and industry partners that enhance Danaher’s scientific leadership and product development pipeline.

Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain senior-level relationships with KOLs, research leaders, and strategic partners; represent Danaher on Joint Steering Committees and serve as a trusted voice in external engagements.

Franchise and OpCo Alignment: Collaborate closely with disease area leadership and OpCo R&D to ensure scientific partnerships support differentiated evidence generation and clinical value creation.

Deal Leadership and Execution: Lead cross-functional deal teams, oversee negotiations and contracting processes, and drive operational execution and health of partnerships.

Team Leadership: Recruit, develop, and lead a team of Scientific Account Leads; establish partnership management best practices in collaboration with the Danaher Business System Office.

 

The essential requirements of the job include:

Education: Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in Life Sciences or a related field; MBA a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 15+ years of experience leading external innovation, business development, or scientific alliances within diagnostics, life sciences, or biopharma.

Strategic Leadership: Demonstrated success developing and executing partnership strategies that drive innovation and business impact.

Executional Excellence: Proven ability to lead complex negotiations, manage multi-stakeholder partnerships, and deliver measurable outcomes.

Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication, collaboration, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior executives and scientific stakeholders.

Integrity: Strong ethical standards and a reputation for sound judgment and accountability in external-facing roles.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience across multiple therapeutic areas aligned with Danaher's diagnostics franchises (e.g., NDD, IDAC, Oncology).

Familiarity with translational research, biomarker development, or precision diagnostics.

Experience working in or with academic medical centers, health systems, or research consortia.

The annual salary range for this role is $200K-$280K. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
