The Opportunity
As Senior Director of Strategy for Personal Investor, you will be a key leader in shaping and driving the competitive business strategy for Vanguard’s retail-focused business. As one of the largest direct providers in the industry, w e serve ~8 million individual clients . Reporting to the Head of Strategy and Client Management, you will lead high-impact strategic initiatives that influence the future direction of the business and help deliver on our mission to improve investor outcomes. Note: This role will report to Janelle McDonald, Head of Strategy and Client Management.
Core Responsibilities
+ Lead the development and execution of business strategy for Personal Investor, in close partnership with senior leaders across the division and enterprise.
+ Ensure our offer remains healthy, vibrant, and relevant to our target clients by conducting offer health assessments and recommending where to invest in new offer development.
+ Lead and mentor a team of strategy professionals, providing direction on strategic priorities, frameworks, and deliverables.
+ Drive strategic planning processes, including market and competitive assessments, opportunity sizing, and scenario planning.
+ Translate complex strategic questions into clear, actionable insights through meticulous analysis and synthesis.
+ Prepare and present strategic recommendations to senior leadership, including storylines, presentations, and white papers.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and execution of strategic initiatives.
+ Stay abreast of industry trends, client needs, and competitive dynamics to inform strategic decision-making.
+ Contribute to the evolution of the strategy function by enhancing tools, frameworks, and ways of working.
Qualifications
+ Undergraduate degree required ; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
+ Minimum of eight years of experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, or business strategy roles—preferably in premier management consulting firms and/or within financial services or a client-centric organization.
+ Proven ability to lead complex strategic engagements with a high degree of autonomy.
+ Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams .
+ Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence and build credibility with senior leaders.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distill complex ideas into compelling narratives.
+ Excellent project management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
