Senior Director of Human Resources

The Senior Director of Human Resources for Batteries Plus will be instrumental in supporting the growth of the company's talent, leaders, and business objectives. You will lead all aspects of the human resource function, including, but not limited to: talent acquisition, employee relations, organizational development, benefits, and compliance. This leadership role demands both tactical execution and strategic thinking, with deep HR expertise and a passion for fostering a high-performance workplace.

A key focus of this position is to provide dedicated HR support for our corporate office, corporate-owned retail stores, and warehouse locations, ensuring HR best practices are consistently applied across all operational aspects of the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Planning

Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational growth and operational needs. Drive initiatives that promote company culture, employee engagement, and retention. Partner with executive leadership to cultivate a high-performance, inclusive organizational environment. Lead source selection and negotiation with key vendors for legal, reporting, and HRIS.

Talent Acquisition and Development

Lead talent acquisition efforts across all levels, with a focus on supporting retail store and warehouse staffing needs. Oversee onboarding, training, and professional development programs tailored to corporate, retail, and warehouse operations. Identify leadership development opportunities and succession planning, particularly for operational roles.

Employee Relations and Engagement

Foster a positive workplace culture, emphasizing support for retail store teams and warehouse staff. Address employee concerns and resolve complex HR issues in store and warehouse environments with fairness and due process. Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across all operational segments.

Retail and Warehouse Operations Support

Deliver specialized HR support to franchise store managers, warehouse leaders, and operational teams. Ensure HR policies, safety standards, and employment practices are effectively implemented and adhered to in retail stores and warehouses. Facilitate workforce planning, scheduling, and HR solutions tailored to operational workflows and seasonal demands.

Compliance and Risk Management

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain and update HR policies and procedures relevant to retail and warehouse environments. Oversee investigations and manage exposure to legal risks related to employment, safety, and operational compliance.

Operational Effectiveness

Oversee HR systems, payroll, benefits administration, and HRIS technology. Implement data-driven HR metrics to monitor organizational health and talent metrics relevant to store and warehouse functions. Administer comprehensive benefits and insurance programs, ensuring cost-effectiveness and employee understanding. Partner with finance and operations teams on compensation planning and budgeting.

Franchise Support and Collaboration

Collaborate with franchisees to ensure HR policies and practices support franchise operations effectively. Provide guidance on HR issues affecting franchise growth, store staffing, and compliance.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, with demonstrated success supporting retail or operational environments. Proven track record of leading HR teams and developing HR strategies that support large-scale organizations and operational functions. Deep knowledge of employment law, safety regulations, and HR best practices, especially in retail and warehouse settings. Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills. Experience with HRIS systems and data analytics. Ability to work effectively across multiple locations, including retail stores and warehouse facilities. Strategic thinker with a customer- and operational-focused approach. Change management expertise. High integrity with the ability to handle sensitive information. Passion for fostering an inclusive and engaging workplace culture.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment
