Senior Director of AECO Global Sales Development

Trimble’s Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Owner Segment (AECO) is seeking a dynamic and results-driven individual to lead our Global Sales Development team. This key leadership role will be responsible for driving the growth of our sales pipeline by overseeing the strategy, execution, and optimization of our sales development efforts across all global regions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in lead development, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of building high-performing sales development teams. 

What you will do: 

This leader position is responsible for leading and growing the Sales Development management and sales development representative (SDR) team focused on growing and qualifying customer leads from all verticals within the construction space. The Sr. Director, Sales Development will hire and develop managers and SDR’s for AECO worldwide.

Develop and execute a comprehensive global sales development strategy aligned with company goals and objectives. 

Identify new opportunities for growth and expansion within target global markets.

Both directly and through dotted lines, recruit, train, and mentor a team of sales development management and representatives (SDRs) to effectively prospect, qualify leads, and set appointments for the sales team. 

Provide ongoing coaching and support to drive individual and team performance, and develop SDR managers to effectively lead SDR teams across different regions.

Continuously refine and improve Global sales development processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness while also taking into consideration the regionality and localization needed. Implement best practices for lead generation, outreach, and follow-up to maximize conversion rates.

Strategically integrate AI tools and platforms into the sales development workflow to automate repetitive tasks (e.g., lead scoring, initial outreach personalization), allowing SDRs to focus on higher-value activities like complex qualification conversations and strategic account engagement, thereby optimizing human capital while significantly increasing outreach volume and efficiency.

Develop a phased implementation roadmap for AI in sales development, prioritizing solutions that augment human capabilities rather than replace them; simultaneously, refine hiring profiles to seek SDRs with strong analytical skills and a propensity for leveraging new technologies, ensuring a synergistic balance between human intuition and AI-driven scale.

Manage the qualification process for inbound and outbound prospects to generate qualified leads and opportunities 

Foster strong collaboration and alignment between the sales development, marketing, and sales teams. Work closely with marketing to ensure the seamless transition of leads and optimize lead generation efforts.

Define key performance metrics and KPIs for the sales development team. Monitor performance against targets and take proactive measures to address any gaps or issues.

Utilize data and analytics to track and measure the effectiveness of sales development initiatives. Identify trends, insights, and opportunities for improvement.

Engage with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, to provide regular updates on sales development activities, progress, and results. Act as a trusted advisor on sales development strategy and initiatives.

Partner diligently with the Sales Enablement team to continuously improve the sales lead processes in order to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Work closely with the Marketing team to ensure that marketing programs meet and align with overall sales objectives. Supply proactive input/feedback to the Marketing team for consideration to improve target messaging to specific vertical markets that maximizes revenues.

What Skills & Experience you should bring: 

10+ years leading and managing business/sales development teams for a high volume Global SaaS business.

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field or experience in lieu of.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Able to effectively recruit, hire, train, manage, motivate, and develop a team.

Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive actionable insights.

Highly proficient in Salesforce and other tools such as Gong, Outreach, Linked-In Navigator.

Ability to travel for team and leadership meetings, up to 40%.
