Position Overview

The Senior Director of Marine Supplier Management is responsible for overseeing the company's supplier management function, ensuring the effective sourcing, evaluation, and management of suppliers across various categories. The primary goal of this position is to establish strong relationships with suppliers, drive cost efficiencies, and ensure the delivery of high-quality goods and services to meet the company's needs. The Senior Director, Marine Supplier Management leads a team of procurement professionals and collaborates with cross-functional departments to optimize supplier performance and support the company's overall strategic objectives. The position reports to the VP of Marine Services and is located in Newington, NH, Baltimore, MD or Eatontown, NJ.

Responsibilities

Strategic Supplier Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive supplier management strategy that aligns with the company's overall business goals. Identify key supplier categories and foster long-term relationships with strategic suppliers. Supplier Evaluation and Selection: Lead the supplier evaluation and selection process, conducting in-depth assessments to ensure suppliers meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to assess supplier capabilities and risks. Contract Negotiation and Management: Oversee contract negotiations with suppliers, seeking to optimize terms, pricing, and service levels. Manage the contract lifecycle, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and resolving any contractual disputes that may arise. Supplier Performance Management: Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supplier performance. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier performance, quality, and reliability. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with suppliers, such as disruptions in supply chain, financial instability, or compliance issues. Develop and execute risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the company's interests. Cross Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various internal departments, including Sales, Project Management, Finance, Quality Assurance, and Legal, to align supplier management strategies with overall business objectives and ensure seamless integration with other processes. Market Analysis and Supplier Identification: Conduct market research to identify potential new suppliers and emerging trends in the industry. Evaluate supplier capabilities and capacities to ensure a diverse and competitive supplier base. Supplier Diversity and Sustainability: Champion supplier diversity and sustainability initiatives within the organization, promoting responsible sourcing practices and contributing to corporate social responsibility goals. Budget Management: Work with finance and procurement teams to develop and manage the supplier management budget, optimizing spending and cost efficiency. Team Leadership and Development: Provide leadership and guidance to the supplier management team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Identify training needs and develop talent within the team. Make vs. Buy Evaluation: Provide leadership pertaining to the evaluation of items that the company procures, versus what we can self-perform, with a view towards eliminating reliance on 3rd parties and self-performing when practicable.
