What you will be doing
The Senior Director, Food Safety Warehouse Operations is responsible for developing, implementing, leading and overseeing an enterprise-wide corporate Food Safety program across all distribution operations at Albertsons Companies. This role involves the design, development, training, implementation, and execution of risk-based food safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations and company standards. The Senior Director collaborates with various leadership levels to align food safety strategies with business objectives and is accountable for continuous improvement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
The position will be based in Boise, Idaho.
Main responsibilities
Develop, Implement Lead and Manage the Warehouse Operations Food Safety System Program. Develop, implement and execute the FS culture, strategies, policies, procedures, and programs for the distribution segment. Lead and oversee all food safety matters, including but not limited to pest control management, sanitation protocols, and allergen management. Ensure readiness for and compliance with third-party and regulatory audits (e.g., FDA, FSMA inspections). Manage product withdrawals and recalls, creating clear and effective action plans to mitigate risks and minimize disruptions. Partner with a business analyst to develop, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to food safety compliance, audit results, sanitation effectiveness, and issue resolution. Analyze trends and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions. Create, maintain, and execute training content relevant to FS programs. Oversee the reassessment of the Food Safety Program on a routine basis. Work with Legal and Regulatory Affairs to evaluate impacts of existing and pending regulations to FS programs and develop action plans to address them. Lead and inspire a team of food safety professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support. Develop and implement food safety training programs across the enterprise, ensuring employees are knowledgeable and compliant with regulations and company standards.What we are searching for
We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:
Minimum requirements
Bachelor's degree required (Food Science, Microbiology, Public Health or related field. 10+ years' management experience in Food Safety or Quality Assurance or similar role within distribution and warehousing. Proven leadership experience in managing enterprise-wide food safety programs for FDA-regulated facilities. Experience in building teams, including recruiting, selecting, hiring, and performance management. Development and management of comprehensive food safety policies and procedures. This position requires up to 50% travel, including visits to distribution centers and participation in regulatory meetings, inspections, and audits.Preferred
HACCP, PCQI, Seafood HACCP, FSVP, Intentional Adulteration, and GFSI Implementation certifications preferred.
