Responsibilities

Summary: Leads strategic fundraising efforts across multiple key Ascension programs, guiding multi-year annual strategic development plans, donor engagement, and institutional giving strategy. Manages and mentors a high-performing frontline fundraising team to grow revenue, strengthen donor relationships, and align philanthropic initiatives with organizational priorities. Serves as a connector between the Ascension Philanthropy Services, Ascension Foundation and senior leaders across Ascension, ensuring consistent development strategic plans, messaging, impactful events, and effective stewardship.


Core Responsibilities:

Report to the Vice President of Strategic Philanthropy and collaborate with Development Directors to create and implement multi-year fundraising strategic plans that increase philanthropic revenue across multiple Ascension programs: Ascension Foundation, Ascension Living, Community Health Ministries, and Dispensary of Hope.Lead planning and execution of integrated fundraising strategies - major, annual, planned, and institutional giving from individuals, foundations and corporations - to meet annual philanthropic revenue targets.Manage and mentor an initial team of four direct and one dotted-line reports, fostering an inclusive, high performing culture aligned with Ascension values.Serve as a liaison for the Ascension Philanthropy Services and Ascension Foundation with senior leadership at Ascension Living, Dispensary of Hope and Community Health Ministry, proactively anticipating needs to support board engagement and reporting.Oversee fundraising performance through established metrics, portfolio management, and pipeline tracking in partnership with Development Operations.Partner with the Director of Development Communications to craft, test, and refine donor messaging, case statements and stewardship materials.Partner with the Director of Development Operations to accurately forecast expected revenue from all fundraising activities and budgets.Develop strategy for institutional giving for all Ascension programs and oversee application process, including positioning, research, prospecting, proposal writing and reporting requirements.Lead the development team’s design and coordination of high-profile donor events and lead organization-wide stewardship efforts to recognize and retain donors.Advise leadership on fundraising trends, donor insights, and philanthropy sector developments to inform strategy and resource planning.Maintain timely, strategic reporting on key metrics to senior leadership at the Ascension Foundation, Ascension Living, Dispensary of Hope and Community Health Ministries to ensure leaders across all programs are informed on progress and opportunities in donor relations and revenue generation.Works proactively with the Ascension Foundation Sr. Director, Grants Management & Strategy and Vice President for Strategic Philanthropy to identify peer funders for collaborative co-investment opportunities that scale the grantmaking impact of the Foundation. Track progress and follow-up strategies.Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education:

High School diploma equivalency with 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience
required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's
degree with 3 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years
being in leadership/management.
