Your New Role…
CNN is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Director of Product Management, Audience Development and Messaging, to develop a unified product strategy that will drive audience growth and engagement. This role will focus on creating cohesive messaging experiences, leveraging marketing technology and empowering editorial and product teams with the community and messaging tools they need to effectively connect with and engage our audience. As the leader overseeing both the messaging product team and the marketing technology product team, you will collaborate closely with editorial, product, and engineering partners to create innovative products, capabilities, and user experiences that support CNN’s audience development, engagement and subscription goals.
Your Role Accountabilities…
Vision and Strategy: Develop CNN’s product vision and strategy for audience development and messaging experiences that foster habitual, meaningful engagement across channels and throughout the customer journey. Leverage user insights and behavioral data to shape strategies that meet the evolving needs of our audiences, driving both engagement and subscription growth.
Audience Development: Collaborate with editorial and growth partners to design and implement product features and strategies that accelerate audience development across owned and organic channels. Your portfolio will include newsletters and alerts, cross-platform messaging experiences, community features (e.g., commenting) and other innovative products. You will use experimentation to determine what tactics and features drive meaningful user engagement.
Messaging Team and Roadmap: Lead a product management team focused on creating messaging experiences across email, push, web and in-app messaging that deepen user engagement and encourage habit formation. Collaborate closely with engineering, editorial, design, marketing and data teams to develop a cohesive roadmap. Your portfolio will include messaging infrastructure, editorial tools for alerts and newsletters, newsletters and messaging products, personalization strategies and user-facing experience for discovering and managing messaging preferences. Ensure messaging is orchestrated seamlessly across channels to enhance the user experience.
Marketing Technology Team and Roadmap: Lead the product team responsible for CNN’s marketing technology strategy, operations and platforms (including customer segmentation, journey orchestration and automation tools).
Segmentation, Data and Messaging Champion. Act as a champion for using first party data, behavioral insights and customer segmentation to create more relevant and valuable messaging experiences. Collaborate with product, engineering, editorial and design teams to seamlessly integrate segmentation and personalization into messaging experiences to foster deeper engagement.
Team leadership. Build, coach and inspire a high performing, innovative product team. Define clear OKRs aligned with CNN’s business goals. Foster a culture of accountability, cross-functional collaboration and rapid experimentation that balances speed, quality and long-term scalability.
Qualifications & Experience…
Experience: 10+ years of product management experience, particularly within media, technology or direct to consumer subscription-based businesses.
Audience Development and Messaging Experience: Experience in the audience development and messaging space, with a proven track record of building messaging experiences that foster habit and drive engagement.
Product Management Best Practices: Deep expertise with product management best practices including techniques for identifying customer needs, hypothesisdriven roadmaps, prototyping, AB testing and user-centered design.
Team Leadership: Experience growing and managing multiple product management teams.
Cross Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to motivate, lead and collaborate with editorial, design, engineering, marketing and data teams
Data Driven Decision Making: Experience using user research, engagement metrics and web/mobile analytics to inform product strategies.
Messaging and Martech Platforms: Hands on experience with messaging tools and martech platforms (e.g., CDPs, customer journey orchestration, CRM platforms), including managing vendors.
Communication: Strong leadership, communications and stakeholder management abilities.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $245,000.00 - $455,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
