The Senior Director, Marketing Partnerships is a growth catalyst responsible for unlocking PayPal and Venmo’s next wave of adoption via best in class merchant co marketing and consumer incentive partnerships. Equal parts marketer, deal maker, and operator, you will own a multi million dollar budget, lead a high performing team, and develop repeatable playbooks that scale across thousands of merchants worldwide.Job Description:

1. Merchant Co‑Marketing Partnerships (~60%)
Oversee the full lifecycle of PayPal & Venmo co‑marketing investments—planning, execution, measurement, and optimization.Manage, forecast, and re‑allocate the co‑marketing budget; build data‑driven business cases for incremental spend.Serve as the merchant‑marketing voice in deal negotiations alongside Sales / Global Accounts.Architect breakthrough Tier‑1 programs (e.g., Venmo × Instacart) that combine talent, timing, and audience insights to convert shoppers.Translate Tier‑1 learnings into a rinse‑and‑repeat playbook—creative templates, channel plans, and incentive constructs—for Tier‑2+ merchants.Embed merchant programs into end‑to‑end consumer campaigns, partnering with Brand, Media, Influencer, and Performance teams.Define KPIs (incremental activations, TPV, LTV, brand lift) and own post‑campaign read‑outs.2. Partnership Development & Consumer Incentives (~40%)
Source, evaluate, and negotiate new consumer incentives—cash‑back, discounts, memberships—that spark trial, frequency, and loyalty.Maintain a robust pipeline spanning retail, travel, subscriptions, and digital services; lead cross‑functional deal teams from term sheet to launch.Design offer mechanics, funding models, and success metrics; build financial models articulating ROI and payback.Package incentives for CRM, push, in‑app, and paid channels; partner with Lifecycle Marketing to segment and personalize delivery.3. Performance & Insights
Own end‑to‑end reporting—dashboards that track incrementality, ROAS, brand lift—and socialize insights with Sales, Finance, and exec staff.Formalize test‑and‑learn frameworks (A/B, geo‑split) so every campaign sharpens the playbook.4. Merchant Enablement
Develop self‑serve toolkits (creative assets, UX copy) and host quarterly webinars that teach merchant marketers how to promote PayPal/Venmo.Coordinate with UX & CX to secure in‑store and on‑site placements (POS screens, receipts, signage).5. Ecosystem Partnerships
Build amplification extensions with ad platforms (Meta, TikTok, Amazon Ads) so merchants can bonus‑match media that features PayPal/Venmo.Leverage network (Visa/MC) MDF and issuer offers to stretch PayPal’s marketing dollars.6. Governance & Risk
Own brand‑usage guidelines, legal compliance, and reputational risk checks for all merchant creative.Institute a quarterly forecast/true‑up cadence with Finance to spot under‑ or over‑performance early.7. Competitive Intelligence
Track competitor incentives (Apple Pay, Cash App, Klarna) and merchant adoption trends; turn insights into proactive pitches.8. Cross‑Functional Evangelism
Run internal roadshows to brief Product, Ops, and Regional Marketing so partnerships land seamlessly.Represent PayPal at industry events and author POV pieces to position us as the partner of choice.Key Success Metrics (First 12–18 Months):

12+ years in partnership marketing, business development, or co‑op marketing within payments, fintech, e‑commerce, or loyalty (Visa, American Express, Mastercard, Klarna, Affirm, Afterpay, etc.).Proven track record owning $10MM+ marketing budgets and negotiating 7‑figure merchant agreements.Deep understanding of merchant economics, payment rails, and consumer marketing levers (CRM, performance media, influencer, talent).Strong analytical and financial‑modeling skills; fluency in ROI, LTV, incrementality, and test‑and‑learn methodologies.Executive presence with the ability to influence C‑level partners and internal stakeholders.People‑first leader who builds diverse, engaged, high‑performing teams.Preferred:
