What you will do?
The Senior Director – Insurance Finance, Reporting and Controls, is responsible for full cycle reporting in the insurance business – including the month end close processes, regulatory and statutory reporting, as well as associated controls, governance and process enhancements. This includes ensuring that our systems and processes are producing complete, accurate and up to date results within the required timelines, and that downstream reporting processes are meeting all requirements, including regulatory and board-related requirements. The Senior Director will also ensure controls are operating effectively including, key controls, SOX controls and GL attestation processes. This role acts as the liaison with both internal and external audit teams. Finally, the incumbent will also have oversight of the investment accounting and reporting team.
What you will do?
Lead the month end close process through both RISE (Aptitude sub-ledger) and EPM (Bank general ledger) ensuring completeness and accuracy of data, as well as timeliness of reporting, including meeting all deadlines.Coordinate the completion of journal entries and other inputs into the month end close process.Responsible for the review and oversight of regulatory, statutory and board reporting, under IFRS 17. Maintain a strong Control environment, aligned to RBC policies - including SOX and GL Attestation processes. Ensure the complete and accurate reporting of Operation Risk Events (OREs) in Finance, Self-Identified Issues, SUMs and other control issues.Ensure the accurate reporting of investment related activities, while supporting new initiatives.Identify issues and propose solutions to drive change with creative options aligned with business strategies and tactics.Influence best practices and enhance synergies and collaboration among finance teams. This includes fostering a culture of innovation, constantly challenging the norm to identify opportunities for automation, process improvement and enhancement of our control environment.Implement and sustain best practices, synergies and cost savings opportunities, ensuring that the Insurance platform is making use of corporate finance resourcing (i.e. Finance Shared Services) and processes.Drive collaboration across various teams, including GRMI, Head Office Finance and our business partners.Acts on behalf of VP and CFO Insurance as required in senior meetings and for key reporting/controls related projectsWhat you need to succeed?
Must Have
Professional accounting designation, CPA, CA and post graduate business degree10+ years’ of Financial Services related experience including 5+ years’ of People Management experienceMust have strong working knowledge of IFRS 17 policies and reporting processesExperience with legal entity reporting, regulatory reporting, interactions with regulatorsAdvanced analytical skillsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written with proven ability to communicate at all levels; strong interpersonal skillsAbility to influence/impact without direct authorityExperience with forecasting and reporting processes, coordinating large initiatives, working within deadlines.Knowledge of the insurance industry and products.Nice to Have
