Senior Director, Institutional Sales, China

The Director/ Managing Director, Institutional Sales, China role is responsible for generating and retaining assets with Institutional investors for China. The position is responsible for managing the China offshore institutional business and, at the same time, collaborating with the China onshore institutional business team for cross-border business development.

The position requires an extensive background in engaging with institutional investors in the region, particularly Chinese Institutional Investors based both onshore and offshore, including Chinese Institutional Investors based in Hong Kong.

The candidate is required to have existing relationships, have a strong ability to expand their network, and will be responsible for building and maintaining a strong and mutually beneficial business relationship with institutional investors. In addition, the candidate will be required to have experience in public markets and private assets.

Position Responsibilities:

Lead institutional client coverage across Mainland China and Chinese Institutional Investors based in Hong Kong to generate sales and revenue to meet objectives for the institutional business. Cover clients personally and lead client engagement and management to cultivate key institutional client relationships and develop sales through those contacts.Act as a strategic advisor, providing expertise and insights regarding various investment capabilities. Engage in research and portfolio discussions, new product idea generation, and marketing content development to win new mandates.Play an accountable role in collaborating with sales colleagues within Asia on all related opportunities. Maintain updated activity logs in management systems to enhance wider organizational capacity.Lead by example through behaviors and proficiency. Maintain knowledge of industry-related topics and developments through engaging with thought leaders and participating in industry forums.

Required Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in an institutional sales role within the investment industryAdept at engaging with C-level decision-makers at Sovereign Wealth Funds, Government Pension Funds, Insurers, Family Offices, and Corporations.Demonstrated sales leadership capability and in-depth China market knowledgeProven track record of building business with target clients by way of AUM and revenue growth in China.Native speaker of Mandarin, fluent in English.Bachelor’s degree required, MBA and/or CFA preferred.

Possess a high level of understanding of a wide variety of asset classesAn entrepreneurial business builder, self-starting and motivated to build a business.Presence as a thought leader; ability to engage external audiences at the highest levelProficiency in using CRM software and other sales tools to manage client relationships and track sales activities.Collaborative with strong interpersonal communication skills.Adaptable and open to learning in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
