Job Summary
The Senior Director of Government Affairs is pivotal in shaping and leading strategies to proactively represent Walgreens before legislatures, regulatory boards, and other government entities in California, Arizona, and Hawaii. This dynamic role involves building and nurturing relationships with governors, attorneys general, legislators, legislative staff, agency staff, business and industry leaders, and professional societies. The Senior Director evaluates and manages legislative and regulatory issues impacting the pharmacy industry and new business ventures for WBA (e.g., Walgreens Health). Additionally, this executive leads a team of Directors of Government Affairs.
These responsibilities support a strategic government affairs program designed to enhance Walgreens' community presence and fiscal advantages through innovative strategies and strong relationships. The Senior Director plays a crucial role in executing Walgreens' government affairs initiatives in California, Arizona, and Hawaii, driving company goals and business objectives while expanding the network of influential contacts. Furthermore, the Senior Director provides insightful analysis and communication regarding initiatives that affect the company.

The actual salary an employee can expect to receive, plus bonus pursuant to the terms of any bonus plan if applicable, will depend on experience, seniority, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of experience working in Federal, State and/or Local Government Affairs OR a High School Diploma and at least 11 years of experience working in Federal, State and/or Local Government Affairs.Experience executing a successful Government Affairs program with a high degree of political sophistication.Experience working with the political process.Experience dealing with funding agency issues.Experience working in a political environment with a high degree of political sophistication, comprehensive understanding of the political process, and knowledge of the intricate relationships among elected officials and their constituents.Experience cultivating/maintaining relationships with elected officials, federal funding agency leadership and their staffs.At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross- functional team leadership.Willing to travel up to 35% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state)

Salary Range: $186500 - $320000 / Salaried
