Senior Director, Global Procurement

As part of the Global Spend Management (GSM) Category management team, the Category Senior Director will have overall responsibility for the development of category strategies and execution of procurement, sourcing & negotiation activities for a portfolio of spend within the assigned global categories including Consulting and other services categories.

What the day will look like
+ Leads cross-functional teams in the development of global sourcing strategies for the assigned categories underpinned by regional nuances including overall objectives, prioritization of opportunities, and performance tracking.
+ Accountability for the opportunity pipeline. Lead and manage key initiatives, including the prioritization of high visibility projects and providing direct management, line of sight and input into deals requiring executive level approval.
+ Provides market intelligence and best practices for the assigned categories, develop go-to-market approaches, and negotiation strategies, assessing supplier risk and mitigation opportunities, and promoting leading procurement practices across the firm.
+ Applies procurement and category subject matter expertise to drive actions that comply with policies and promote colleague experience while having the ability to think creatively and adapt approach when necessary, including gaining acceptance on alternatives.
+ Maintains productive relationships with colleagues, internal stakeholders, suppliers and procurement partners. This includes coaching junior team members and being a brand ambassador for GSM/Procurement across the firm.
+ As the leader of a global category team, contribute to our global category framework and develop strategies and link opportunities across regions and categories when appropriate.

This position partners closely with executives and colleagues aligned to the spend categories, applying sourcing and procurement strategies to balance the needs of internal customer requirements, supplier capabilities and overall firm objectives. The Category Senior Director will manage direct reports and collaborate with large and matrixed teams of subject matter experts.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
+ Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of experience in category management, procurement or supply chain.
+ Deep category experience in multiple Indirect procurement areas such as consulting, technology, business process outsourcing, and professional services are preferred.
+ Demonstrated success driving cost savings and total cost ownership in a large scale, complex matrix environment leveraging strong financial and business acumen, particularly related to spend/procurement.
+ Routinely interface and influence senior level leaders within the organization through healthy tension to drive greater outcomes for the firm. Can communicate with clarity, conviction, and confidence across all levels.
+ A strong executive presence, well-developed presentation, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
+ Proven ability to build, manage and foster a team-oriented environment with experience managing direct reports and third-party resources.
+ Strong project management and organizational skills, with excellent attention to detail and a thorough understanding of levers available to create value, and the ability to influence stakeholders and suppliers to maximize opportunities.
+ Creative and curious thinker, demonstrating problem-solving, analytics, troubleshooting, and ability to adapt.

Pay Transparency Laws
The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $175,000 - $215,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.
The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Chicago, Illinois. The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
