We’re looking for an experienced, strategic leader in computational peptide design to head the global in silico peptide discovery team and accelerate the delivery of differentiated therapeutics through the implementation of state-of-the-art computational approaches for therapeutic peptide design. Your new role 
As an integral member of the DCD leadership team, you’ll lead our global in silico peptide discovery efforts and shape cutting-edge computational strategies for peptide design and optimisation. You'll spearhead innovation and excellence in peptide-based therapeutic discovery and development. You’ll also lead a team of senior computational scientists to advance our portfolio of peptide therapeutics programs.  
 
This role fosters seamless collaboration with research and leadership teams across business functions and geographies to ensure alignment and timely delivery of strategic priorities and portfolio projects. 
 
Your key responsibilities include: 

Leading, mentoring and inspiring a high-performing team, by providing clear direction, fostering professional development, and cultivating a collaborative environment that drives innovation, productivity, and excellence Leading global in silico peptide discovery initiatives, using advanced algorithms and machine learning to address key challenges in peptide identification and optimisation to deliver on the therapeutic peptide portfolio  Defining and implementing innovative computational strategies, integrating emerging technologies to enhance efficiency and precision in molecular design and optimization Driving innovation in peptide-based therapeutics by exploring novel methodologies and technologies, encouraging creative problem-solving, and proactively implementing disruptive technologies to expand the therapeutic potential of peptides  Fostering cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless integration of computational insights into experimental workflows Ensuring strategic alignment of computational efforts with organizational priorities by monitoring project milestones, aligning computational strategies with broader objectives, and continuously adapting approaches to meet evolving needs   Acting as a key liaison and thought leader, promoting knowledge sharing and communication between computational and experimental teams

You’ll join the Digital Chemistry & Design (DCD) team, which is part of AI & Digital Innovation area within Research & Early Development. We are multidisciplinary team of computationally focused drug hunters from diverse backgrounds that thrive on innovation and collaboration. We have a shared passion for making a difference in the world and the patients we treat through the application of state-of-the-art computational approaches, platforms & tools to accelerate the discovery of differentiated therapeutics and advance our portfolio across all therapeutic modalities.  
 
In Research & Early Development, you’ll be part of a unit that researches transformative therapies that are scalable and globally accessible. Together, we explore scientific ideas and advance them into treatments for clinical testing.  
 
Your skills and qualifications 
We are looking for a strategic leader with the ability to engage stakeholders, interpret complex data, and adapt to evolving research priorities. You’ll bring with you: 

A PhD in Computer Science, Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biophysics, or a related field Proven track record of leading high-performing research teams, driving strategic innovation, and delivering impactful results in computational drug discovery Profound industry experience in in silico drug discovery, with a demonstrated ability to advance peptide therapeutics through early discovery and into the clinic Expertise in molecular modelling and simulation, machine learning, AI applications, to accelerate peptide design and optimisation Strong ability to integrate insights across disciplines to align computational strategies with therapeutic goals Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills Proven ability to articulate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences, including internal teams, external collaborators, and senior leadership, fostering alignment and trust across all stakeholders
