The Role

The Senior Finance Director, based in London, is a key member of the Corporate FP&A function, which is responsible for managing and delivering the Group’s global financial management reporting, budgeting, and reforecasting. The team is based in the US, UK and India, and we work closely with all functions and markets. The role involves value-added analysis to interpret financial and non-financial information and provide insightful information to key stakeholders (finance and non-finance) to enable agile decision-making.  

The role requires a blend of strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and partner effectively across multiple teams and senior leadership. A key competency is the ability to communicate complex financial insights clearly to non-financial stakeholders, driving strategic decision-making with actionable, data-driven recommendations. This role demands a high degree of strategic thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation in financial processes and systems. 

Strong interpersonal skills are critical for managing and developing both direct and indirect teams, particularly across global and remote locations (Bangalore, India), ensuring alignment and fostering a culture of accountability and high performance. The ability to balance tactical execution (i.e., focusing on day-to-day tasks such as producing forecasts and budgets) with long-term strategic goals, coupled with a results-driven mindset, ensures the individual can deliver a measurable impact and drive business growth in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

An experienced and strategic Senior Director of Corporate Finance Planning to lead the financial planning and reporting efforts with a focus on global revenue and gross profit performance. This critical role will involve extensive business partnering with the Revenue Finance Function and other senior stakeholders to ensure accurate financial forecasting, reporting, and analysis. The role will provide strategic insights to help decision-making around drivers for revenue growth, optimise gross profit margins, and improve financial performance across the organisation.

What will you be doing?

Key contributor to the CFP&A global team:

Support the CFP&A team to manage the end-to-end delivery of the global consolidated reporting (actuals, budget and forecasts). Ensure that variance analysis with business rationale, risks and opportunities, trends, and insights is understood and clearly explained to Senior Leadership.

Support the annual budget process by coordinating across markets and functions, closely tracking targets.   

Revenue Finance Team Partnering (includes focus on gross profit and margin analysis)

Work closely with revenue finance function key stakeholders to understand revenue drivers, including critical insights such as customer behaviour/patterns and key event impacts, pricing strategies (for example, direct/indirect display and capacity relationships), and revenue performance by business line.

Obtain a solid understanding at a high level of pricing impacts, material customer contract negotiations happening across the markets/brands and advertising deal profitability analysis that optimise revenue and gross profit are important for this role to be able to discuss these contributors in relation to the financial performance of the Company.

Facilitate the alignment between markets and revenue global functional team to ensure consistency in forecasting, actual reporting, and performance measurement.

Work closely with the Revenue Finance Function to understand the bi-weekly/ad-hoc revenue projections, to pinpoint market trends, impacts of new publication/campaign launches globally and locally, and customer as well as end consumer behaviour patterns driving changes in financial performance.

Provide global high-level scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to assess the impact of potential changes in revenue (for example, modelling revenue mix impacts impacting margin or change in customer demands and subsequent impacts on revenue and profitability).

Understand and use key revenue performance indicators (KPIs) related to revenue growth, gross profit margin, including high focus streams such as subscriptions (example: review KPIs relating to new starts, volume, customer retention, pricing impacts or LTV) Be able to explain business performance and provide strategic insights and recommendations using these KPIs.

Leadership and close collaboration with India FP&A CoE

Manage and develop direct reports to be engaged, motivated and high-performing 

Champion continuous improvement in reporting, processes and insights delivery in the FP&A team

Act as a cross-functional connector, ensuring finance plays a proactive role in strategic decision-making across the functions by providing insightful information.

Provide indirect oversight for a dedicated India FP&A CoE team; set priorities aligned with specific deliverables, establish clear expectations of service levels, and ensure quality and timeliness of outputs of the CoE. 

About You:

 Qualified accountant with strong proven experience in FP&A or strategic finance 

Experience in media or a similar industry within an international company

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience collaborating with senior finance professionals, partnering with the business & being a ‘voice in the room’

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, comfortable with handling lots of data and delivering quality outputs with minimal review required 

Proven experience of using initiative to build a deeper understanding of the numbers to ‘tell the story’ about business performance

Able to work in a cross-functional matrix organisation, and have experience in managing work deliverables across multiple time zones.

Experience in managing the delivery of reporting improvements from identifying the opportunity through to implementation in a complex operating environment.  

Works well under pressure, prioritises effectively and takes ownership of deliverables 

Self-motivated, flexible & a great team player, adaptable to pitch in to wider demands of the team where required

Proficient user of G-suite, and prior exposure to Adaptive planning (Workday) or Oracle EPM
