Position Summary
Responsible for facilities operations at bioMérieux SLC, supporting a large campus of regional corporate offices, ISO-regulated manufacturing centers, R&D laboratories, Bio Safety Labs, and warehousing. Oversees hard and soft services, facilities engineering, building maintenance, site master planning, and management of large capital projects for facilities expansion. Ensures compliance to all applicable regulatory and safety requirements and is accountable for risk mitigation through business continuity plans. Drives continuous improvement with a focus on operational efficiency, energy efficiency and sufficiency, and cost reduction. Leads strategic planning and project execution to support corporate CSR initiatives for sustainability.
Primary Duties
Performs all work in compliance with the Quality Management System.Leads strategic space planning and manages facilities expansion projects potentially as large as $50M. Manages engineering and architecture firms on key capital projects.With a strong emphasis on customer service, provide vision and leadership that includes cost-effective and energy efficient engineering, operation, maintenance, and repair for buildings, utilities, equipment and motor vehicles, ensuring a safe and pleasant work environment.Provides technical leadership, guidance and development for the facilities engineering and maintenance team compliant to local and federal and international regulations.Responsible for the department budget and for cost reduction and energy savings through continuous improvement.Manages internal support or contracted services for facilities maintenance and engineering, custodial, cafeteria, landscaping, security, and parking lot maintenance.Establishes expectations, manages contracts, and ensures compliance and delivery of contracted activities in cooperation with purchasing department procedures and requirements.Oversees infrastructure risk mitigation plans to ensure business continuity of a 24/7 operation supporting significant revenue for the business.Ensures effective communication across all levels of the organization.Responsible for the compliance, inspection and testing of all facilities infrastructure and equipment.Prepare reports regarding utilities, departmental efficiency, budget, cost analysis, etc.May oversee security operations at the siteOther duties as assigned.Supplemental Information:
Maintains >1 million SF across six buildings in the SLC area, serving more than 3,000 team members. Responsible for all aspects of facilities operations and maintenance for a 24/7 manufacturing scope supplying >30% of global company revenue. The site also serves as the North American corporate headquarters and houses senior and executive leaders. Leads the site master plan and may direct capital projects in excess of $50M for key facilities expansion projects. Requires technical aptitude to select and manage engineering and architecture firms working on facilities expansion projects.
Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in facilities management, engineering, construction management, or related field.Requires 7-10 years’ experience managing facilities in life sciences or FDA regulated manufacturing.Requires 10+ years of significant leadership experience overseeing facilities maintenance teams and budgets with demonstrated experience in cost reduction and operational efficiency.Requires experience working with engineering and architectural firms in facilities designs and the ability to manage large capital projects more than $50M.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be proficient the use of PCs, including Microsoft Office package and AutoCad, and have familiarity with maintenance work order systems. Experienced in SAP is a plus.Experience in asset management, and calibration technology / techniques are highly preferred.Attention to detail and the ability to complete work on time and in a thorough and complete manner in compliance with regulatory requirements is required.Ability to work and communicate with all types of personnel from contractual, hourly and executive management.
