Your Role:
We are seeking a Senior Development Engineer to design, develop, and test novel single-use filtration devices suitable for the manufacture of therapeutic biopharmaceuticals, vaccines, and emerging gene therapies.
A Senior Engineer within the Filtration Research and Development department is responsible for the development of novel filtration products/technologies that enable the future manufacturing of therapeutic biopharmaceuticals. The preferred candidate will have a track record of innovation and success in the execution of technology or product development projects. A Senior Engineer will lead technology and product development projects to deliver future filtration technologies for a wide range of bioprocessing applications. Activities may include analyzing the problem, evaluating novel technologies/concepts/equipment, conceptualizing a technical path forward, technology transfer to our manufacturing plants, and commercialization of the new products. The successful researcher is expected to apply solid scientific and engineering principles as well as institutional knowledge to solve complex scientific and engineering problems.
In this position, the researcher is expected to work collaboratively with both internal and external support functions to obtain project objectives. The successful candidate should also be able to think independently to achieve project goals.
Who you are
Minimum qualifications:
B.S. in mechanical engineering, applied science, or equivalent plus 9 years of experience in a related technical area, or MS/equivalent plus 7 years, or PhD plus 4 years Must be highly proficient in 3D CAD software (Solidworks, AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.). Must have demonstrated strong fundamental understanding of science/engineering principles related to filtration.Must have strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate technical information to different parts of the organization and to customers.Must have a track record of experience/contribution in patent application/publication/external presentations.Must have a sense of urgency and unwavering resolve to meet project timelines and customer needs.
Preferred qualifications:
M.S. in mechanical engineering, applied science, or equivalent plus 7 years of experience or PhD plus 4 years Proficient in design of experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis methods.Hands-on problem solver. Capable of conducting development work in a manufacturing environment. Complies with all necessary EHS safety regulations.Is expert in designing and conducting experiments in laboratory or manufacturing setting with a diverse project team.Plan and conduct research and development projects to supply new capabilities and meet MilliporeSigma's future product needs. Seeks out feedback and responds appropriately to input from R&D groups and other organizational functions. Is a team player, demonstrates technical leadership, and works well with all levels throughout the organization. Develop and clearly communicate innovative product designs, applications, technologies, or concepts to project team and R&D management as needed.Proficient in technology and product development in areas such as: customer needs and IP landscape, basic project management, budgeting, risk assessment, FMEA, validation and product launch and post launch support.Must have a sense of urgency and unwavering resolve to meet project timelines.Willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed.Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project) and statistical analysis software such as Minitab or JMP is a plus.
Pay Range for this position: $115,900 - $173,900
