The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in **AWS Mainframe Modernization (AWS M2)** , strong secondary skills in **Power BI** , and exposure to **Python** and **Generative AI (GenAI)** technologies. A strong background in the **AWS cloud stack** is essential. This is a strategic technical role requiring experience in mainframe modernization, cloud-native development, data visualization, and emerging technologies to support transformation initiatives in the Life Insurance domain. **Responsibilities:** + Lead the technical implementation of AWS M2 for mainframe application modernization projects. + Design and develop scalable, resilient architectures for migrating legacy systems to AWS cloud. + Work closely with enterprise architects and stakeholders to define modernization strategies. + Integrate and visualize business data using Power BI for analytics and reporting. + Leverage Python for scripting, automation, and building GenAI-driven tools or prototypes. + Apply GenAI capabilities to enhance automation, decision-making, or user experience within Life Insurance applications. + Drive best practices in architecture, coding standards, and cloud DevOps within a regulated environment. + Mentor junior developers and collaborate with cross-functional teams across architecture, QA, DevOps, and business teams. + Ensure security, compliance, and performance requirements are met throughout the software development lifecycle. **Qualifications:** + 10+ years of experience in software development, systems architecture, and solution design. + Proven experience with AWS Mainframe Modernization (AWS M2), including tools like Micro Focus, BluAge, or AWS Migration Hub. + Hands-on experience with Power BI for dashboards, data modeling, and reporting. + Strong proficiency in AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, RDS, DynamoDB, etc. + Working knowledge of Python, especially in automation or data processing contexts. + Familiarity with Generative AI tools or platforms (e.g., Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI APIs, LangChain). + Experience in Agile/Scrum-based development environments. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. + AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Solutions Architect) preferred. + Experience in the Life Insurance or broader insurance domain. + Exposure to CI/CD tools, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation). + Experience with legacy modernization and rehosting strategies. + This position works at the Kemper office. The range for this position is $86,200 to $143,600. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors.
