About the Team

 

The Enterprise Design & Research Team is a global team of highly talented multi-disciplinary designers, researchers, writers, and operations managers. We are embedded within the Enterprise Technology Services organization and work in close partnership with our digital product management organization.

We lead design efforts from concept through to production for the largest servicing channels for American Express, across web, mobile and push, and offer a vibrant and collaborative work environment where partnership and innovation thrive.

Our Design Operations colleagues play a critical role in building the best colleague experience for Design, so that they can play a critical role in building the world’s best user experience. We equip teams with the people, processes, tools, systems, methodologies, and partnerships needed to consistently deliver exceptional design at scale.

 

About the Role

 

This role is pivotal in scaling our design practice, optimizing cross-functional collaboration, and enabling our designers to do their best work in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. As a Senior Design Operations Manager you report directly to Director, Design Operations and provide strategic support to ensure designers work collaboratively and deliver against quality standards during the different phases of design and product development.
As the operational backbone of the design org, you’ll partner closely with design, product, engineering, and business leaders to drive clarity, efficiency, and alignment across critical Card Product initiatives that shape the future of Core Membership Experience Design.

 

What You’ll Do

Builds new strategic partnerships and cultivates existing partnerships with stakeholder and/or third partiesEstablishes and nurtures cross-functional relationships to capture insights, align on business needs and deliver value, ultimately ensuring success across projects and programsLeads the management of complex or high-profile projects and programs with diverse stakeholders and/or third partiesApplies expertise to routinely inform leadership/peer decision making and operational priority Tracks key deliverables for each delivery cycle and ensures larger products and design roadmaps are aligned and on timeMakes informed recommendations that shape organizational strategy, programs, measurement, ways of working, and partnershipsElevates our practices by defining and implementing scalable frameworks and metrics that support and inform business goalsEvolves tools and training methods to enable adoption of processes and adherence to standard methodologies across the teamEstablishes and monitors necessary feedback channels to regularly identify opportunities, pain points, and gapsLeads/Mentors/Coaches junior members of the [Design/Research] operations team

 

What You’ll Bring

 

You have 5+ years of experience in design operations, digital program management, or related roles—preferably in enterprise or agency environments.You are an experienced facilitator of collaboration among partners and teams leveraging design thinking and workshop methodologiesYou are experienced managing multiple projects and complex initiatives involving cross-functional teamsYou have worked with and helped mature design, product, or engineering organizations, or partnered directly with design, product, or engineering in such an organizationYou have defined and scaled new processes that have measurable impact to team health and maturityYou have strong written and verbal communication and are able to document and share processes and activities in an engaging and contextual wayYou have matured your skillsets and help others learn how to develop theirsYou are proficient in using tools such as Airtable, Jira, Confluence, Slack, Mural, and Figma

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits

The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
