Caterpillar Inc. seeks Senior Design Engineer - Power Electronics Design at its facility located at 2427 Engine Drive, Chillicothe, IL 61523.
The Senior Design Engineer in Power Electronics design will be required to conceive electronic product design concepts and prepare design layouts (schematics & PCB) for electronics used in power electronic components (inverters & converters). The selected candidate will have a strong emphasis on simulation-based design and development. In this role, the Senior Design Engineer will be interpreting customer requirements into technical requirements, making design calculations, establishing strategic framework based on cost and quality to meet customer requirements, and implementing design decisions to complete the necessary analysis and computer simulations. The Senior Design Engineer will be responsible to initiate continuous improvement ideas to improve cost or quality. The Senior Design Engineer will work closely with validation engineers, technologists, and suppliers regarding product design, test, and production schedule dates. The role requires close collaboration with domestic and global design teams. The Senior Design Engineer will work with customers, dealers, and other departments throughout the NPI/NTI (New Product Introduction/New Technology Introduction) process. The Senior Design Engineer will coordinate product tests with Prove Design and Prototype build-up and test areas. The Senior Design Engineer will be responsible to be present on-site and interact with engineers, stakeholders, labs that are located in Peoria IL as needed. Research and develop new power conversion technologies. Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units. As part of this role, up to 40% Telecommuting is allowed.
REQS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field plus 6 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, Design Engineer, or related occupation in the field of in Power Electronics.
Alternatively, this position requires a master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field plus at least 2 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, Design Engineer, or related occupation in the field of in Power Electronics.
Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) 2 years of experience with PLECS, IPOSIM, PSIM, PSPICE, and Matlab/Simulink; (2) 2 years of experience with electronic test equipment for troubleshooting electrical components and systems such as oscilloscope, DVM, and function generator; (3) 2 years of experience with power electronics hardware; and (4) 1 year of experience with Design and analysis of inverters.
**Summary Pay Range:**
$122,325.00 - $165,840.00
