We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.
Position Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: MDS Carrickmacross
Reporting to: Engineering Manager
Hours of work: 40 HOURS 8.00 AM – 5:00 PM MONDAY – THURSDAY, 8.00 AM – 2.30 PM FRIDAY
Working within the existing Design team, the Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development and testing of various aspects of the Terex MDS range of Equipment manufactured in our Carrickmacross facility.
Main duties and responsibilities
Provide engineered solutions for the development of new products and modifications to existing products.Create detailed drawings for designs including Weld and General AssembliesCreate BOM (Bill of Material) data for all fabrications and assemblies designedEnsure current and new products meet standards and performance levels specified for safety, function and reliabilityWork closely with Operations as new Products are introduced to productionLiaise with suppliers and customers as necessary to gather component and product data.Timely problem solving and root cause analysis for factory or field issues as they arise.About You:
Degree educated or equivalent in Engineering, ideally with design experience in this or a similar industryCompetent user of 3D Solid Modelling CAD, ideally Solidworks, and familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systemsGood technical expertise in mechanical design, electrical and hydraulic systemsStrong Project Management and Communication Skills – written and spokenCreativity and innovative thinkingMotivated self-starter with good time management and an interest to learnA “Can do” attitude and ability to interact with a multi-functional team.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Able to assess workload and manage time effectively.Able to select from multiple design alternatives when a clear best choice is not evident.Experience with FEA structural analysis is an advantageBasic understanding of electrical circuits and control systems for mobile machinesBasic understanding of Hydraulic circuits and components on mobile machinesUnderstanding of both technical and commercial risks with proposed product changes or new product development.Good Presentation and interpersonal skillsSome travel will be required.What’s in it for you

MDS is a manufacturer of heavy duty and recycling trommels, apron feeders and conveyor systems, based in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, Ireland. MDS was founded in 1995 by Liam and Una Murray, with a vision to design and develop engineering solutions for industry. Over the past 25 years, the company has built a highly skilled work force and a global network of distribution partners.
