Senior Design Engineer
Eaton’s Commercial Product Assemblies Division is currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer (R&D) to join our team. The position will be based at our plant in Hodges, South Carolina. The role is offering relocation assistance and sponsorship support. This role is a unique opportunity to develop best-in-class products and features through product research, design, design validation, deployment, and maintenance in accordance with market needs. This role is also responsible for providing technical expertise on busway products. The Senior Design Engineer will be essential in annual engineering growth projects. The expected annual salary range for this role is $83250.0 - $122100.0 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. **What you'll do:** **Position Overview:** This role is a unique opportunity to develop best-in-class products and features through product research, design, design validation, deployment, and maintenance in accordance with market needs. This role is also responsible for providing technical expertise on busway products. The Senior Design Engineer will be essential in annual engineering growth projects. **In this role you will:** • Translate internal and external customer requirements into measurable performance criteria and Develop technical communications: datasheets, interface control documents, test plans, etc. • Design, CAD 3D model and test product prototypes. Perform DfM&A, GD&T & Tolerance stacking analysis for making design effective and reliable within practical manufacturing environment. Maintain drawings, product structure, and design standards. • Maintain and improve existing products through design and competitive analysis resolving existing product’s design related manufacturing & quality challenges & Customer issues. • Engineering change management for existing product through PLM System (ENOVIA) • Systematic approach of problem solving through root cause analysis, DFMEA and related problem-solving tools utilizing Design for Six Sigma Principles. Test plan creation (DVP&R) and work with third party certification agency (UL/CSA/ETL) for test plan sign off and product certification. • Lead product performance test execution, including but not limited to thermal performance, short circuit performance, mechanical integrity performance etc. • Work with manufacturing disciplines to design processes as well as products which meet market and customer needs. Provide guidance to manufacturing engineers during development of products and during upgrade of existing product. Provide direction to production employees on technical issues. • Work with other Eaton Electrical businesses as well as outside suppliers to develop new features and design opportunities for products within the product line scope and charter. • Represent the product line as a technical consultant in front of Internal and External Customers. • Identify technology upgrades and cost reduction opportunities to keep the product line in a competitive position. • Apply knowledge of industry and certification standards to ensure proper product compliance (UL, NEC, CSA, NEMA, IEEE, CANENA). **Qualifications:** **Required (Basic) Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. + Minimum three (3) years of engineering or technical experience in design and/or manufacturing + Minimum three years of experience with 3D CAD tools **Preferred Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited institution. + Experience in an electromechanical product design role + Experience in a value-analysis/value-engineering role. + Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma and Project Management + Validation testing experience. + Experience with Autodesk Inventor **Position Criteria:** + Knowledge about DFMEA and engineering problem solving tools. + Knowledge about DfM&A & Tolerance stack analysis. + Working knowledge of regulatory standards that covers low voltage distribution equipment. + Team player & ready to work with cross functional teams to achieve common goal. + Familiarity with simulation analysis We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
