Overview Responsible for providing Quality and Food Safety leadership to the Cedar Rapids plant. This position is accountable for developing, managing and administrating the quality processes, as well as continuous improvement in the total quality of the Cedar Rapids plant. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring those adequate policies and procedures are utilized in the manufacture of products in order to meet regulatory, customer and consumer requirements. Responsibilities Ensure compliance to corporate and plant Quality Sanitation specifications and requirements within all processes at Cedar Rapids through effective implementation of quality management tools. Ensure adherence to applicable FDA, USDA, EPA, and State/local regulations in all processes at the Cedar Rapids facility. Oversee the sanitation services to Business Units personnel. Manages the overall functions of Cedar Rapids Sanitation Department. Lead Quality Maintenance Pillar for the facility, ensuring that the appropriate processes and skills are present in the facility to assure continued movement of the TPM Journey forward. Identifies and develops the quality and technical orientation and training programs needs to establish a participative and empowered work force in a team based work environment. Provides support to the areas of the plant necessary to accomplish team and individual needs in socio-technical change, organization design and employee involvement. As part of the Senior Plant Management team plays an active role in the Plant Labor Management leadership group. Provides input and lead in the development of the strategic operating quality plans for the Cedar Rapids plant. Develop and manages the Quality departmental budget. Develop and execute Quality Wall implementation. Lead integration/partnership with Frito-Lay Quality Systems. Scope Of Position: Staff- Approximately 20 salaried and 40 frontline employees. Budget-$4.2 MM departmental budget. Case volume 42 MM cases. Compensation and Benefits: The expected compensation range for this position is between $118,700 - $198,800. Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process. Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 15% of annual salary paid out annually. Qualifications Education/Work experience: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science/Technology, Chemistry, Biology or other related technical field. Minimum five to seven years of progressive experience in Operations, R&D or Quality. Risk Assessment/Problem Solving/Decision Management: Able to evaluate various alternatives and risks and communicate recommendations based on strategic considerations. Food Law /Regulations/Policies: effectively implement Food Safety/HACCP knowledge, FSSC 22000 standards (allergens, cross-contamination, basic HACCP elements, plan development and implementation, training development and delivery, documentation, GMP’s, pesticide residues). Understands GMP requirements and Federal laws. Demonstrates understanding of Quaker quality systems including business unit policy and procedures and can translate into practical solutions for plant location. Total Productive Manufacturing: Understanding and ability to communicate TPM Process and demonstrate leadership of this process in the Quality Maintenance Pillar and across the facility as part of the TPM Leadership Team. Process Quality: Understanding, use of and demonstrated success with process quality tools including DoE, SPC, data analysis, business process and value analysis. Able to draft plans and tactics that synchronize commercialization and manufacturing from product concept, to process optimization, to product manufacture. Total Quality: Knowledge of competitive quality practices and systems. Ability to benchmark appropriately for practical application and value. Use of appropriate systems thinking and linkages among business functions for an integrated approach to quality. Working knowledge and experience with Kosher requirements. Must be willing and able to travel 10-15% of the time.
