Senior Database Manager
**Description** Applied Research Solutions is seeking a Senior Database Manager in the C3I and Infrastructure Division (AFLCMC/HNI) which focuses on providing enterprise support to over 110 active Air Force, Air National Guard (ANG), and Air Force Reserve installations and bases. ARS employees are motivated through our industry competitive benefits package, our awards and recognition program, and personalized attention from ARS Senior Managers. **SharePoint Administration** + Administer and maintain SharePoint Online environments across both NIPRNet and SIPRNet, ensuring optimal performance, security, and uptime. + Troubleshoot site outages, performance issues, and failures—escalating as needed and coordinating resolution. + Design, develop, and implement tailored SharePoint solutions to improve collaboration and process efficiency. + Advise Program Managers on site architecture and tool integrations; oversee site configurations. + Lead migrations from legacy on-prem “classic” SharePoint to Microsoft 365 cloud. + Optimize SharePoint storage structures and integrate Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) into SPO and Teams sites. + Manage user permissions and access controls to maintain data integrity and security. + Enforce security best practices, monitor for vulnerabilities, and remediate issues. + Create and maintain in-depth documentation of configurations, procedures, and processes. **Privacy & Sensitive Content Control** + Scan monthly site collections and Teams for PII; restrict access or remove content as needed. + If a PII exposure is detected, lock down content and report events to the Privacy Act Manager and senior leadership, following AFI 33‑332 and Base Privacy guidance. **Records Management** + Act as the RM point of contact for assigned units on both NIPRNet and SIPRNet platforms. + Manage electronic/manual file plans, ensuring timely cutoff, retrieval, transfer, and proper disposal of official records in accordance with Air Force and Federal mandates. + Ensure compliance with Privacy Act and FOIA—secure sensitive data and manage access controls. + Support congressional or litigation needs via e-discovery and forensic data retrieval. + Coordinate Acquisition‑to‑Support transitions, ensuring records are consolidated and transferred appropriately. **Privacy Act Program Monitoring** + As Unit Privacy Monitor under AFI 33‑332: + Train personnel and commanders on privacy procedures and reinforce PII protection. + Promote organizational privacy awareness. + Track privacy training and deliver specialized instruction for PII handlers. + Review materials for privacy compliance. + Manage privacy breaches, complaints, and violations. + Submit semi‑annual reports detailing SORN reviews, complaints (classified by type), and training. + Maintain privacy‑protected records inventories. + Complete annual (or as‑directed) RM/Privacy Act MICT checklists and support IG assessments. **Training & Support** + Provide expert guidance and training on SharePoint best practices, security, automation, search, and database management. + Develop training materials and documentation to support user proficiency and security awareness. **Security & Access Governance** + Design and enforce structured approval workflows for access requests, ensuring consistent compliance across sites. + Identify and address critical security vulnerabilities in site collections and security groups. **Collaboration & Communication** + Interface with HQ AFMC and Base SharePoint Program Offices to resolve technical issues and deliver continuous support. + Gather user and Program Manager requirements to design effective SharePoint-based solutions. + Communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels. + Other duties as assigned. **Qualifications/Technical Experience Requirements** : + Must be a U.S. Citizen + Active Secret Security Clearance Required. + Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, 12 years of experience, 5 of which must be in the DoD + **OR** , 15 years of directly related experience, 8 of which must be in the DoD + Experience with SharePoint content migration tools. **Job Specific Duties:** + SharePoint Administration: + Administer and maintain SharePoint Online, both within the Air Force Non-Classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet) and Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability + Troubleshoot SharePoint site outages, performance issues, and failures, escalating to appropriate channels when necessary and proactively coordinating resolution efforts. + Design, develop, and implement SharePoint solutions to optimize business processes, enhance collaboration, and improve efficiency. + Develop and maintain SharePoint site configurations, advising Program Managers on effective site structures and tool integrations. + Design and enhance the SharePoint storage structure, integrating Microsoft Power Platform Applications (Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI) into SPO and HNI Teams Site and Its SharePoint-backend + Manage user permissions and access controls, ensuring proper security and data integrity across the SharePoint environment. + Implement and maintain SharePoint security best practices, including vulnerability monitoring and remediation. + Create and maintain documentation related to SharePoint configurations, processes, and procedures. + Scan monthly HNI SharePoint Site Collections and Teams Site for personal identifiable information (PII) and if found, ensure such content is properly restricted to only those who have a legal and legitimate “need to know” or removed. If inadvertent disclosure occurred or is ongoing, adequately lock down the content and report the breach to Hanscom Privacy Act Manager and HNI Senior Leadership. Completed all required steps per AFI 33-332 andBase Privacy Act Manager’s instructions + Provide training to end-users on SharePoint best practices, information security, workflow automation, database management, and advanced search techniques. _All positions at Applied Research Solutions are subject to background investigations.
