Senior Data Scientist

 

The Senior Data Scientist is a subject matter expert who leverages data science and knowledge of health care data to develop data-driven solutions focused on improving healthcare. The Senior Data Scientist builds predictive models, experimental designs and web analytics, machine learning algorithms using advanced technologies, and assists with dashboard and other analytical publications to support Institute for Human Caring initiatives. He or she works closely with data developers, solution architects, and clinical subject matter experts to establish the entire project life cycle, designing data, machine learning solution, testing, clinical and ethical validations and roll-out in an Azure cloud environment, as well as final preparation for end-user publication. 

 

The Senior Data Scientist exhibits a strong curiosity about data and excels at harvesting insights from highly complex data across multiple data sources.  The Senior Data Scientist engages key stakeholders in reviewing health data including but not limited to health outcomes, clinical performance, behavioral health, social determinants, disparities of care, utilization, cost, and margin population management. The person in this senior role serves as a mentor and coach for skills development for junior staff. The audience for this position's work is the Providence St. Joseph Health system caregivers.

Required Qualifications: 

Master's Degree - MA/MS degree in Healthcare, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Business, Data Science, Computer Science, or another related field of study -OR- a combination of equivalent education and work experience6 or more years of relevant data analysis or analytics experience6 or more years of experience with big data, database query and analysis languages (e.g., Python, SQL, Snowflake SQL, R, Scala, SAS, Azure Data Bricks) and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) required6 or more years of experience applying advanced statistical concepts, machine learning techniques, forecasting and other methods to solve complex problems using structured and unstructured data
