Senior Data Engineer(remote)
**Become a part of our caring community and help us put health first** The Senior Data Engineer Designs, builds, and maintains data processing architectures and solutions enabling the efficient conversion of structured and unstructured data to insights at enterprise scale. The Senior Data Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. The Senior Data Engineer Ingests data from internal and external sources utilizing cloud native platforms and software development best practices and patterns. Develops software tools that leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big-data techniques to cleanse, organize, and transform data into insights and actions that enables Humana to better serve our members. Begins to influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, andwork is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. **Key Responsibilities:** + Design, implement, and optimize robust data pipelines and ETL processes using Databricks and Python. + Architect and manage data solutions leveraging the medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) for scalable and efficient data processing. + Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with security and privacy regulations, particularly in healthcare or cybersecurity contexts. + Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, secure data solutions. + Develop and maintain data lakehouse architectures, utilizing Delta Lake and Unity Catalog. + Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflows in production environments. + Contribute to the development and enforcement of data engineering standards, especially with respect to secure data handling. **Use your skills to make an impact** **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. + 5+ years of experience in data engineering roles, with a strong emphasis on Databricks and Python. + Proven track record implementing medallion architecture in cloud-based environments. + Advanced proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and ETL frameworks. + Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Experience with Azure Databricks or AWS Databricks. + Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and deployment automation. + Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, HITECH, or NIST frameworks. + Exposure to data security best practices and secure cloud architectures. + Experience working with sensitive data in cybersecurity or healthcare, and familiarity with relevant compliance standards. Remote/WAH requirements: + WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense. + A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required. + Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role. + A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required. **Scheduled Weekly Hours** 40 **Pay Range** The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc. $106,900 - $147,000 per year This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
