Purpose of the Role:

Next Gen BigData Team (Lumi) is seeking a highly skilled Engineer to design, build, and enhance a Data Marketplace application that will serve as the central hub for discovering, evaluating, and managing enterprise data products. This role will be pivotal in building foundational capabilities for producers, consumers, and reviewers within our platform across several data marts, integrating secure workflows, metadata management, data contracts, and compliance validation.

The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong architectural design skills and a product mindset, ensuring our platform is scalable, secure, and user-friendly.

Focus:

Designs, develops, solves problems, debugs, evaluates, modifies, deploys, and documents software and systems that meet the needs of customer-facing applications, business applications, and/or internal end user applications.

Organizational Context:

Member of an engineering team reporting to an Engineering Director.

Responsibilities:

Platform Development

·       Design, develop, and deploy the Data Marketplace application from the ground up, including:

o   Search & Review capabilities for data products (DPs)

o   Reviewer dashboards with certification and validation workflows

o   Data product and contract registry

o   Integration of data quality results, metadata, and usage policies from multiple sources (e.g., BigQuery, APIs, Collibra, Atlas)

·       Implement user authentication and identity validation for multiple personas (Producers, Consumers, Reviewers).

·       Build automated workflows for approval hierarchies (L1/L2/L3) and compliance checks against data risk management policies.

Integration & APIs

·       Architect and implement APIs for:

o   Data product metadata ingestion and updates

o   Data contract management (creation, change requests, approvals)

o   Integration with enterprise data catalog and knowledge hubs

·       Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure interoperability with existing enterprise systems.

Data Governance & Compliance

·       Develop tools for automated policy validation and compliance monitoring.

·       Implement audit trails for data product changes and contract updates.

·       Support secure onboarding of new data products and producers.

User Experience & Dashboards

·       Partner with UX designers to deliver an intuitive web UI for diverse personas.

·       Create sample dashboards with metrics such as:

o   of certified/uncertified data productso   of subscribers per data product

·       Ensure responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces.

Collaboration & Leadership

·       Work closely with product managers, data architects, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

·       Mentor junior engineers and lead code reviews.

·       Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release management.

Required Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).

·       7+ years of software development experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.

·       Proven expertise in building enterprise-grade full stack applications and API-driven platforms.

·       Strong proficiency in:

o   Backend: Java, Python, Shell Script

o   Frontend: React, Angular, or Vue.js

o   Databases: SQL (BigQuery, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL

o   Cloud Platforms: GCP, AWS, or Azure

·       Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.

·       Solid grasp of CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and modern DevOps practices.

·       Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Preferred

·       Experience building marketplace-style applications or internal data discovery platforms.

·       Familiarity with data contract frameworks and data product lifecycle management.

·       Prior experience integrating with enterprise data catalogs and knowledge management systems.

·       Working knowledge of machine learning model integration(GenAI) for search and recommendations.

·       Familiarity with chatbot integration for Q&A functionalities.

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
