Senior Customer Experience Scientist

Senior Customer Experience Scientist

📍 Preferred Location: Breukelen (NL) – hybrid model
🕒 Full-time – 40 hours per week
✈️ Willingness to travel: up to 50% (primarily within Europe)

Diversey, a Solenis company, is looking for a Senior Customer Experience Scientist – a pivotal role that sits at the intersection of R&D, customer engagement, and innovation leadership. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of our cleaning and hygiene solutions by translating customer needs into high-impact, validated innovations.

This is not your typical lab-based role – it’s hands-on, dynamic, and global in scope. You'll be just as comfortable facilitating in-depth customer interviews as you are guiding field testing with application experts. You are not only a scientist but a communicator, connector, and problem-solver.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Blueprinting & Voice of Customer:
Lead and execute New Product Blueprinting sessions, identifying unmet customer needs through structured conversations with key customers and internal stakeholders. You’ll synthesize and deliver insights that drive innovation and product strategy.

Application & Field Expertise:
Collaborate with application experts and field technicians to observe how our products are used in real-world settings. Provide deep application insight to bridge the gap between lab development and field performance.

Concept Development & Testing:
Design and oversee application-relevant lab and field tests to validate concepts and technical solutions. Ensure testing reflects customer realities and meets critical requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with R&D, marketing, and sales teams across regions to align on needs, share findings, and integrate feedback into the innovation pipeline.

Customer-Facing R&D:
Be the face of our R&D group in front of strategic customers. Facilitate engaging, two-way dialogues and maintain credibility and rapport across a variety of functions and cultures.

What You Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related technical field.

5+ years of experience in the Industrial & Institutional cleaning sector.

Strong technical understanding of cleaning formulations and customer applications.

Fluent in English and at least one additional language.

Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written – and ability to convey technical insights clearly and confidently.

Prior experience engaging directly with customers in a technical or innovation-related context.

Willingness to travel up to 50% (majority within Europe); flexible to occasionally support testing activities during evenings or weekends when needed.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; persuasive and relationship oriented.

Working knowledge of statistical methods and field-testing protocols.

Familiarity with DFSS / Lean Six Sigma principles is a plus (Green Belt or above).

What We Offer

A truly unique, hybrid role combining science, innovation, and customer engagement.

The opportunity to shape the future of Diversey’s innovation and R&D strategy.

Collaboration with international and cross-functional teams.

A flexible and inclusive work environment, with support from experienced colleagues across Europe and the US.

The ability to make a direct impact on customer satisfaction, product design, and commercial success.
