Kalmar is looking for aSenior Country Finance Accountantto take ownership of local finance compliance across our Central Europe region - Germany, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands. This position ensures that we comply with statutory, tax, and audit compliance, while working closely with our compliance partners and Kalmar Finance Services You will act as a trusted finance partner, supporting various internal teams to drive financial excellence and ensure our statutory responsibilities are met with quality, integrity, and efficiency.

This role is based in Hamburg, Germany and will involve collaboration with global and regional stakeholders, including some travel to our Central European sites.
Main tasks and responsibilities
+ Statutory & Tax Compliance:Own the compliance landscape for finance and tax matters in Central Europe. Manage external financial audits and maintain strong working relationships with compliance partners and auditors
+ Financial Reporting Expertise:Leverage your knowledge of German GAAP to oversee the preparation of statutory financial statements. You won’t be directly preparing the reports but you will review them - your attitude, attention to detail, and ability to guide others is essential
+ Stakeholder Collaboration:Act as a key finance liaison, connecting with Kalmar Finance Services, local management, compliance partners, business controllers, group functions, and external auditors. You can effectively work with and support them
+ Standardization & Harmonization:Work with Kalmar Finance Services to deploy and enhance standardized accounting and control processes, ensuring high-quality and efficient service delivery across countries. This offers a great opportunity to learn and implement best practices
+ Treasury & Tax Support:Offer localized hands-on support to Kalmar’s in-house tax and treasury teams
+ Process Improvement:Be part of ongoing finance transformation efforts. Bring ideas to the table, challenge the status quo, and promote best practices across the organization. This is a chance to develop your analytical and problem-solving skills in a practical, impactful way.
What you’ll need to succeed
Education:
+ University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
+ 7+ years of relevant finance experience, preferably within an international or matrixed organization. We value individuals with a solid foundation who are eager to continue learning and growing in their careers
+ Expert-level knowledge of German GAAP; understanding of other local GAAPs (AT, BE, NL) is a plus
+ Solid understanding of IFRS
+ Familiarity with Kalmar’s financial systems (SAP, HFM) is an asset
+ Prior experience of compiling or auditing statutory financial statements and coordinating audits - ideally in cooperation with outsourced service providers or shared services.
